2 cups baking soda (1 pound package)
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water

Stir together baking soda and corn starch in a pan.
Add water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
When mixture is the consistency of moist mashed potatoes, turn out on a plate and cover with a damp cloth.
When cool enough to handle, let the artist in you come out.
Color may be added to the clay using food coloring while kneading, or painting after the object has dried.
A shiny glaze can be applied to the finished objects with clear varnish, liquid plastic, or 1 or 2 coats of fingernail polish.
