The Face in Cydonia (Mars)

PART-III: THE "FACE"

Back to PART-I

This work which conclusively showed the 'multi-portrait' nature of Monument "Humanoid" was the trigger for Dr. Lahoz's statement of similar nature in the most famous Monument "The Face":

Basic news of apr-1998 image versus old Viking image of "Face" (1976):

The 'Sacred Face' versus 'Brave Face'

Accurate analysis of artistic elements in "Face" (from original in Dr. Malin's site)

Analisis of 'Sacred Face'

Best analisis of the 'Sacred Face' compared with obvious 'Brave Face' of Viking

More than 2 years of incorrect trials to match Viking's and MOC's images of the 'Face' gave fuel to skeptics: they ridiculed such efforts by excellent experts as Drs. Carlotto, Van Flandern and others. Such ridicule is now over: we could not suspect that the martian Artists were so sophisticated as to produce 3-d sculptures which encode more than one Portrait simultaneously. Not only by yuxtaposition (as in 'Humanoid') but even using both, the positive and the negative, of spacecraft captions. This last technique is so original and revolutionary by our current standards that certainly we have good excuses for not understanding it until now. Why such techniques? .. Probably 'economy' plays important role: is it not more efficient to give TWO different portraits than one-only using the same Monument?

NEW (feb-2001): JPL / MSSS has released a few NEW strips of images of Cydonia (jan-2001) and just a very narrow one which touches western portion of the FACE. Since it was taken in morning hours (not far from noon), the NEGATIVE of it HAS to be used. And it confirms nicely what we already saw above from analysis of the famous and complete one (apr-1998). Here it goes:

To continue when (and if) new and relevant images from MOC become available.

Per UNIAM: Angel Garcia, secretary; 4 oct 2000

NOTE: By march-2001 we discovered that Mr. Ignatius Graffeo had published a short note (apr-1998) announcing (very correctly) that the 'Face' at sunrise HAD TO BE VIEWED in its NEGATIVE. This is precisely the same idea as in here presented study. Therefore UNIAM decided to build a new comprehensive Website about the 'Face' (almost exclusively) which would carry the bulk of every new development in such topic. We close here by sending readers to such new site:
