SACRED MARTIAN FACE = SAGRADA FAZ MARCIANA. (UNIAM, dec-2000)
-------
NEW(27-feb-2001). It is appropriate to close february with a mention of the 25th. anniversary of detection of ETI. See my lecture about it in:
Martian colony in ancient Egypt with original vignettes below.
-------
NEW (25-feb-2001). A tiny piece of eastern edge of 'Face' was also obtained in M14-00709 (JPL/MSSS release of jan-2001). It replicates part of 'Aster' monument as in images below AND gets this sharp edge of 'Face' at near noon (morning hours):
and here his final composition for the NEGATIVE.
-------------
NEW (21-feb-2001). We have analyzed preliminarily all published new images of Cydonia presented on jan-2001 by NASA/JPL/MSSS. Only the small 'Hexagon with arrow' is complete and excellent in resolution (see below); a piece of head of Scholaris is present in the same strip: nothing remarkable. The strip M15-00479 gives substantial portion of monument 'Aster' (which originally was named 'asteroids' in TETET-92, -93, etc. It had been correctly interpreted as center of the 'Basic Diagram' but no 'artistic content' had ever been found in it due to poor resolution of 35A72 and 70A13 of Viking (IMAGE-3 below). In the new images Dr. Lahoz indicates that the 'artistic content' is just a plain contour-silhouette describing 'martian astronaut' in action among 'asteroids':
IMAGE-2: the same with our basic artistic lines.
-------
NEW (18-feb-2001). Excellent confirmation of the apr-1998 'Face' can be seen in new release by NASA/JPL/MSSS (jan-2001) of a tiny portion (about 1/3) of the 'Face' (also in morning hours):
Perfect match of new portion with complete image (apr-1998) and its basic lines.
Among the new images of Cydonia there is not much to say, since only small pieces of monuments have been obtained: too narrow strips. However resolution is excellent and many marks of machinery can be seen:
Well knwn 'hexagon' between Scholaris and Marla.
Comparison of the same with older caption (apr-1998).

NEW (14-feb-2001).Extraterrestrial Intelligence (ETI) on Earth was detected and published 25 years ago: "Venerable Martians..." (UNIAM, feb-1976). Recently (oct-2000) we discovered the most fundamental ETI topic from popular point of view: the riddle of the 'Face on Mars': see below 'NEW (28-dec-2000)'. To clarify such item in just 5 pictures, let me present again that basic image below:
Next let me reverse such PICTURE-1 to the 'NEGATIVE': we will see that none of the 3 make any sense at all:
Next let me put a close-up, side by side, of the positive MGS with those basic lines correctly presented in PICTUE-1:
Then.. why did the martian Artist use the NEGATIVE of the casted shadows at sunrise ?. A great question which will have several answers, in future analysis. The first one which comes to mind is 'economy': probably was easier to use the NEGATIVE of shadows at sunrise in order to generate the 'reverse side' of the grand Cydonia medallion:
PICTURE-4: Basic lines over negative and positive of MGS caption.
Finally, in summary: all these 4 pictures in one single composition adding the Abstract-Art of Dr. Lahoz (a poor scan of pag. 40 in his last monograph of dec-2000).
MGS has got a few more images of Cydonia (release jan-2001) and a very narrow strip touches the 'Face' (around noon hours). Nor the NEGATIVE nor the POSITIVE are applicable at noon, of course. Thus the tiny bit that it is shown is artistically meaningless; but it shows a portion of the technology which was used to produce that 3D rare sculpture in the famous mesa. Hopefully new images of the Face will be taken (both at sunset and sunrise) before the MGS project is finished.

NEW (28-dec-2000). Dr. Malin and others have released (4-dec-2000) some among the best images, so far, of MGS. They are right in such assessment, obviously, because well layered terrain as in Candor Chasma cannot be anything else except a martian replica of the 'grand canyon' with evidence of many water episodes in past martian History. However these are not the very very best results of MGS. To us at UNIAM it was MARLA the best image until oct-2000. The point is that everybody became confused by the macabre looks of the 'FACE' in that unique oblique shot of apr-1998. Now that the solution to the puzzle has been found (JUST LOOK TO THE NEGATIVE of that macabre image) the MOST EXCELLENT, by far, of all MGS images is precisely that 'unique' FACE. There are no words to describe it in its ABSOLUTE artistic beauty of a 'tilted FACE' to the right wrapped in blanket as if resting (sleeping or even dead). PROPORTIONS of such demi-profile view are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. The martian Artist knew that we eventually would understand their Superior Art and CRAFT: Not one FACE as in Viking (with light from West), but TWO different FACES: the second being this one of MGS with light from East. They found the way of producing TWO different views of the martian face by using BOTH the positive (when 6 pm sun) and the negative (when sun at 8 am). Here goes once more our analysis of that very BEST image of MGS:
The Face which will make famous the MGS and its teams MSSS/JPL.
Dr. M. Malin's image is named "SACRED FACE" (at sunrise, old martian resting); whereas the ones of Viking (at sunset) are named "BRAVE FACE" (see above URL with both: they are neatly different). *****************NEW (5-nov-2000): Browsing the rich Gallery of newly released martian images (oct-2000), from the NASA/MSSS team, I found what probably is going to be the BEST panoramic of the 'whole Museum of Monuments' at Cydonia during the total MGS project. It is a unique wide-angle photo, M09-05395, which covers ALMOST the totality of the Museum. We must congratulate the JPL/MSSS teams for such accurate centering at 40.83 deg. versus the 'ideal' one of 40.7 deg. latitude North: you just missed PANTOCRATON by a trifle; excellent work with good resolution except at MARIA (in West edge) which is slightly blurred:
----
NEW & VERY IMPORTANT (25-sept-2000)!: Finally the infamous image of the FACE by MOC of MGS (apr-1998) HAS BEEN FULLY UNDERSTOOD: it was not the fault of anybody; just the well known and cryptic technique of the divine martian Artist Who enjoys and tends to use as much as possible the MULTI-portrait idea (for economy reasons, of course). We saw such idea in TETET-94 and now (just below) in the multi-portrait of "Humanoid". It turns out that the same idea was used for the FACE: it is just a twofold portrait: one for light of afternoon (which is that of Viking, 1976) and another, TOTALLY DIFFERENT, for sun-light of morning hours as in the apr-1998 image produced by MOC of MGS. Actually it was sensed that a great difficulty was present in seeing the same shadows of the FACE with illumination from left and right: several researchers had expressed such idea. But nobody had guessed, so far, that once the MOC image was corrected for orthonormality, a NEATLY DIFFERENT human FACE was supposed to be seen as intended. Here goes our final and definitive analysis which leaves no shadow of doubt about the authentic reality and divine Fine-Art which was set up in that well known 'Mensa' about which more than half million Webpages are talking about:
Understanding the FACE on Mars.
FINAL AND CONCLUSIVE evidence of artificiality in the FACE. Our most accurate analysis.
NEW!: sept-2000
Here is a new cut&paste from Viking frame 70A13 in order to show at its best the Monument 'Humanoid' with its artistic content which is not of trivial interpretation:
Art-work over "Humanoid" Monument and its interpretation
Identical structure of the 3 tholus as shown in frames of Viking (1976) with some context.

NEW (jun-2000):
A new excellent finding of artificiality reported in Hoagland's webpage. It is remarkable: well outside the 'Museum of Monuments' and Cydonia. Still in the general area named "Mare Acidalium" in MSSS/NASA webpage. It appears to be a neat pyramidal mountain with triangular facets and (south of it) an outstandingly clear hexagonal crater which seems adapted as ancient water-reservoir with a peculiar system of drainage with several ponds:
Final composition of above images with HEXAGONAL left eye of "Happy Face".
---- NEW (may-2000):
Superposition of new image M02-04228 from Malin's gallery with the Museum-Boundary at Cydonia:
The given names for Monuments at Cydonia.
Cydonia is a small region in the area named 04 in Malin's Gallery (may-2000). A few images from the wide-angle camera are shown for each large area; and the 04 one covers from 0 to 60 deg. West (longitude) and from 30 to 65 deg. North latitude. The particular image above shown (Cydonia) is centered around 41 deg. North latitude and 9 deg. West longitude. It does not show the whole Museum because 'The Face' is NOT the center; such center is at CLO in LECTIO (south of D&M)
NEW (apr2000):
See here the superposition of new image from Malin's webpage (Fig.3) with the computer-drawing of BOUNDARY of Museum of Monuments (some 65 of them have been already described and decrypted in 8 books from TETET-92 to TETET-99.
