Hi Bobby,
This is Edna Santos-Alberto. You may not remember me, but
I am one of the
gals of the D'MMURs. It sounds corny now that I'm almost
embarrassed to
mention it, but it may jog your memory a little bit. I
have been a part of
the Prep 66 email train for about a year now, though not actively.
I just
enjoy "eavesdropping" and learning about the goings-on of our
batchmates here
and abroad. Inday Sason-Icasas and I have been in contact
on a consistent basis.
Unfortunately, we have lost contact with most of the girls in
our
group.
I'm really glad that Manny and the group "found" you, or you
"found" them.
This group started small, but with time we have been able to
reach more
people, which I'm sure you will agree is heartwarming.
On a more personal note, I left the Phils in '72 and lived some
time in NY
and Virginia where I met my husband, Hugo. We settled in
San Diego in '82 -
hubby is retired from the USNavy; we have two children -
Josh 18 and in
first year of college; hoping to major in exercise physiology;
big kid -
6'1", 240 lbs; and Angela 15 and a sophomore in h.s., plays tennis
and
violin, tall girl, 5'4", like me in h.s., but slim, unlike me
in h.s. Like
you and your wife, we thank God everyday for giving us these
two normal,
well-adjusted, happy kids.
I have not really had a career to speak of since we did some
amount of moving
while Hugo was in active duty and we both decided that the kids
need more of
my time than anything else while they were growing up.
So I did clerical
work, mostly part time, so that I would be home when the kids
got out of
school. Then 7 years ago, when they could pretty much take
care of
themselves, I went back to school to get an associate degree
in Phys. Therapy
Asst. I worked as a PT Asst. for 5 years, then decided
to start our own
small business. This is what's keeping me busy now.
I work out of our
garage and it makes it very convenient for our family.
Well, if you and the guys (Neph, Godo (Fred pala), and the others
decide to
have a mini reunion sometime, let me know. I'll try my
best to go, if chicas
are welcome; I missed the one they had last year.
Regards to you and your family.
Edna
