DESCRIPTION

Air Canada was an early operator for the Lockheed TriStar, Its ten series one aircraft were ordered back in December 1968 with options for nine more.
The first Air Canada TriStar was rolled out at Palmdale in late December 1972 with delivery due by the end of January. The initial services were planned to start on the 15th of February on the Toronto to Miami route for the busy winter holiday season. A month later the TriStar was due to de used on the transcontinental Montreal-Toronto-Vancouver trunk route.
In addition to the ten TriStars ordered, Air Canada had an arrangement with the Haas-Tuner finance house to share a further two TriStars with Eastern, at times to suit the two airlines traffic peaks.
All the Air Canada TriStars have now been withdrawn from service.

C-FTND C/N 1025 first flew on the 9th of February 1973. She was delivered to Air Canada on the 9th of March 1973 and given the fleet number "504"
on the 27th of May 1981 C-FTND went on lease to Air Lanka as 4R-ALE and returned to Air Canada on the 29th of December 1981.
She again went out on lease on the 4th of June 1984, this time to Gulf Air as A40-TP.
She came back to Air Canada on the 4th May 1989.
Alone with two other examples (C-FTNG,C-FTNL) C-FTND was one of the last three TriStars in service with Air Canada, finally being sent to the great Arizona storage yard in Marana in January 1996 along with her two companions.
