Canadian Regional Airlines F-28  mk 1000  fleet #  142, registration: C-FCRW
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

FOR FLIGHTSIM for Win95 and FLIGHTSIM 5.x with FLIGHTSHOP.

Re-paint & re-engineered flight model by Steve Weiher
Originally Noble Air F-28 by Kim Simmelink.

Canadian Regional Airlines (CRA) is the short-haul domestic arm
of Canadian Airlines International Ltd. (CAIL).

They operate (approx.) 17 of these Mark 1000 F-28s in Canada & the US.
plus, Dash8 100&300s, ATR42s (soon to go) and Shorts 360s (may already be
gone!)

The F-28 is ideally suited to the many shorter airfields it is utilized in
and I have attempted to reflect this performance in the revised flight model.
I based this model on the performance data I have obtained plus, my own
experience on a REAL F-28 sim (I am a Commuter Airline pilot by profession,
but not on the F-28.. yet!!)

Thanks to Kim Simmelink for the original, he deserves all the credit for
the excellent visual model depicted here.. I did this repaint without
benefit of having the AFX since I have been unable to get any response to
my many e-mails over the past few months. (Kim, give me shout if you're
out there somewhere??)

There are two versions included in this .zip file.. One for fsfw95(fs6)
and one for fs5. Unzip "fs5ver.zip" and use those files for those with
fs5(sorry, I couldn't rename the texture files in the fs5 version).
Standard install for either, "F28cdnr.?af" (nblf28.?af for fs5 users) to
your flitsim TEXTURE directory and the .air (plus .mdl for fsfw95 users)
files to your PILOTS directory. NOTE: FlightShop IS REQUIRED to use this
aircraft with FS5!!

The Specs
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Engines:	2 x Rolls-Royce RB.183-2 Spey Mk. 555-15 turbofans.
Power output:	9850 lbs thrust(static) each.
Performance:	Max. Cruise speed 458 knots TAS at 21,000 ft (Mach 0.77)
		Range 1,130 miles (with 65 passengers and full reserves)
		Max. Cruise altitude 35,000 ft

Weights:	Max. take-off weight 65,000 lbs
		Typical empty weight 35,275 lbs

Speeds:		V1& Vr (balanced field) = 125 kts (flap 11) or 118 (flap 18)
		V2  = 135 kts (approx.)
		Vzf (zero flap) = 165 kts
		Vfe = 200 kts
		Vle = 200 kts
		Vref = 125 kts

Use spoilers sparingly as they also activate the fuselage mounted speed brakes
and will slow the aircraft down drastically!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to fly it (Gross weight)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take-off: Standard flap is 11 deg. (Use 10 deg. setting in fsfw95)
		18 deg. flap used for shorter runways. (Use 15 deg. in fsfw95)
		Rotate(Vr) at approx. 125 knots first to 8 deg. nose up, pause
		then to 15 deg. nose up for initial climb. V2 is about 132 Kts.
		Climb at V2 plus 10 to 20 kts until 600 ft above ground, then
		retract flaps to 11 deg. (if not there already) and slightly
		reduce power (from full) to approx. 100% N1. Continue climb
		to 1500 ft above ground, allowing speed to build to 165 knots.
		At 1500 ft, retract all flap at once, keep positive rate of
		climb and accelerate to 200 knots until 3000 ft above ground,
		then accelerate to 250 knots.

Cruise: Stay at or below Mach .75 (usually 88-92% N1)
		USE YAW DAMPNER (on autopilot panel) for flight above 20000 ft.

Descent:	Transition from cruise mach # to 280 kts indicated, thence to
		250 kts at 10000 ft.

In-range:	Clean until BELOW 200 kts. (max flap & gear speeds) Use partial
		speed brake (fsfw95 only) as required.

Approach:	Before interception of Final approach track (& speed below 200)
		select 11 deg. flap. slow to 160 knots.
		Established on inbound/final select gear down and flap 25, slow
		to 140 knots.
		At final approach fix, select full flap and maintain Vref + 10
		(approx. 135 knots at gross weight)
		Check Yaw Dampner is OFF!

Landing:	Maintain Vref + 10 to short final, then reduce to Vref (125 kts)
		crossing threshold. Deploy speed brake upon threshold crossing
		(optional), ADD a bit of power when doing this.
		At 30 ft, power to idle.
		Upon touchdown, ensure spoilers are extended & SET THE PARK BRAKE!!
		(Ctrl-.) to simulate autobrakes. DO NOT USE ANY REVERSE!!
		(because the F-28 doesn't have it in real life!!)
