The late 1950's ushered in the modern jet age.

That era was marked with the entry of the Douglas and Boeing jetliners,
which introduced the flying public and the world to the speed, 
convenience and luxury of jet travel in a massive way.

The DC-8 was the Douglas Aircraft Company's offering to the
world's air carriers as a competitor to the Boeing 707.

Many airlines purchased the DC-8, including Canadian Pacific Airlines of
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.The aircraft depicted here is CF-CPT,
a Series 53 Jet-Trader turbofan equipped model.

CPAir was a colorful and popular airline, Offering international and 
domestic services emanating from it's Vancouver BC base.

CPAir merged with Pacific Western Airlines in the late 1980's.
The CPAir scheme of a striking Orange and Red striping on bare metal 
and it is depicted on this aircraft. The merged company was renamed
Canadian Airlines and continues flying to this day.
