Perspective
As stated in the preface, the original subject matter of the site was to be
based on industrial and utility situations, and written for engineers. Since
the start of the site I have researched the WWW water treatment offerings. I
have made some sobering and interesting, if not surprising revelations.
- Residential and even commercial water treatment has become an oldtime
carnival, and the freak shows and snake oil salesmen are out in force.
Obviously, serious environmental issues have provided the opportunity
for some rather opportunistic or unscrupulous individuals to alleviate
the often unfounded fears of the uninformed regarding potable water.
- Some of the illicit offerings are not surprising, as they fit neatly
into the category of so called "treatments" which are obscure and
misunderstood even by
technicians and engineers who may be in the water treatment business.
Immediately obvious examples of these illicit, actually laughable systems,
are the new
and amazing magnetic treatment, and those systems which claim to produce
pure water, H2O only, that is, no so called contaminants remaining.
I will present my opposing view in a double barrelled attack by explaining as
simply as I can the fallacies of these systems, and presenting links to their websites,
when applicable, so the reader can judge for himself after being informed.
