Ginseng and divided into two species: Asiatic (panax ginseng, most red in colour), and Canadian or American (panax quinquefolius, natural white or yellow). Although ginseng is not a whole healing root, indoubtedly, it has high medicinal qualities and is the best and effective adaptogen (restorative agent). Ginseng has a "universal defense action" and meets all three requirements for an adaptogen:

  1. Ginseng is non-toxic; it has no side-effects; it does not create any disorder in the physiological functions of an organism.
  2. The action of ginseng is non-local and non-scientific; i.e. it increases the body's resistance to adcerse influences: of a physical, chemical, or biological nature.
  3. Ginseng is a regulator, producing a normalizing effect, as it regulates the normal functions of the organism. e.g. the regulating of high and low blood pressure.
