Civil War Photography>

The American Civil War, or War Between the States, or War of Northern Agression, or simply 'The Civil War', has been the subject for more written documents than any other Historical Event. A good reason for it's popularity goes back to the thousands of letters and photographs produced during, and after, the war.
Introduced some time prior to the 1860's, 'Still Photography' came into its own during the Civil War because of men like Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner, and numerous others who mastered, through trial and error, the techniques which were the forerunners of modern day photography.
