Only Once
I mentioned once, but not again
The silent pass through mountains' bend
And though I spoke, no one heard
The echoes of those few small words
Though they yearned and cried aloud
To simply hear those few small sounds
Though they begged for years on end
I mentioned once, but not again
The river's churn and towers fall
The flames spread quickly, taking all
Amidst the dark, there's but one way
To end the night, and bring the day
Past the mountains that none have passed
A valley lies with life that lasts
A brand new hope I told them when
I mentioned once, but not again
With tears they asked amidst the cold
For those words I told of old
But fate has means to an end
I told them once, but not again
