Vacation in Michigan...
Elliott Style!!
Forget Spring Break in Florida.  Why lay on a beach and get an awesome tan when you could save money and spend Summer Break like my family does??
The first place we went was my Grandma's house.  We hung out there for a couple days and then headed up north to an area near Crystal Mountain Ski Resort.  Our plan?  "Primitive"---->"Amish"---->Luxury!!
No running water, no heat, no light, no bathroom (tent camping trips of the past made it easier, though).
This is where we spent the first three days of our vacation.  (Yes, it really is leaning off to one side.)

This is the awesome view we had from our one room, ramshackle cabin.
The lake off in the distance is Bear Lake.

We took several day trips because the cabin wasn't too entertaining after a while.  Charlevoix was one of our stops; it's an old fishing town.
The city council was sponsoring a charity auction.  People were given a basic fish design and they could paint or decorate it however they wanted.  After that they were judged and then auctioned off.  Here's my favorite...
We also rafted down the Platte River, but since Danielle and I had to do all the rowing, we don't have any pics from that.
This view was at the end though.  It's Lake Michigan, and it was freezing.  The year before I had the courage to swim in it, but I don't like being cold that much anymore.
