Deep underneath the streets of New York, were a vast network of tunnels which until recently had served as home to a group of mutants known as the Morlocks. These mutants were too out of the ordinary to fit in with humans on the surface world and had formed their own community underneath the city that hated them for no other reason then their appearance. Here they led a fairly quite life until the day Mr. Sinister sent his Marauders into the tunnels to wipe out the Morlocks. The slaughter of the Morlocks was almost complete. A mere handful survived. Sinister (With the aid of Gambit, it has been revealed) chose his killers well. Among the most savage of them was the mutant maniac Victor Creed known as Sabretooth:

Sabretooth, always looking for more blood to let, had went back to the tunnels to finish off any stragglers that they may have missed the first time around.
Not all Morlocks stayed cowering in the darkness, however, a few left the tunnels. One such sold his soul for power and is now seeking revenge for the slaughter of his brother and sister Morlocks. Caliban was now the Hell-Hound of Apocalypse. His was a special power, he was a tracker of mutants augmented by Apocalypse to be an unstoppable engine of destruction. He was now on the trail of Sabretooth.

The next morning Cable and the New Mutants arrived at the site of Xavier's mansion. Cable could not believe the utter destruction. It was leveled. Only the entrance to the basement levels remained. These levels however were intact and operational including living quarters, gym, medical area and the "Danger-Room" Cable dismissed the team and told them to meet in the Danger Room at three o'clock for a training session.
When three o'clock rolled around and the training session began,
most of the team surprised Cable they handled everything he threw at them with skill with one notable exception. Rictor, already tense at being so near the man he believed had killed his father, lost control and was almost overwhelmed. Cable had to shut down the training session. Rictor felt humiliated in front of the team and stormed off in anger when the others tried to console him.
Cable knew that something was troubling Rictor but decided it would be better to let him cool off and talk to him alone, later. He dismissed the team and decided to get the cerebro unit up and running to see if he could locate the MLF and Rusty and Skids with it.
Rictor, meanwhile, decided that he would show Cable and his team-mates that he wasn't a coward by going into the Morlock tunnels, even though Jean had warned them about the new Morlock leader Masque, and the Morlocks that had joined up with him, now considered themselves at war with any who lived on the surface and would kill all intruders.
When Rahne discovered Rictor missing she immediately guessed what the hot-headed Rictor had done and rushed to tell Cable and the others what she feared had happened.
"Be at the tunnel entrance in five minutes," Cable ordered the team. He had known that the boy was upset, but he would never have guessed that he would do anything so rash. He only prayed that they could find him before Masque and his followers did.
Rictor had made it about a half mile into the tunnel when he came upon a fresh corpse. A Morlock who had been slashed to pieces. Just as a cold chill ran down Rictor's spine, an even colder voice nearly shocked him out of his skin.
"What are you doing here, boy? These are not your tunnels. They belong to the Morlocks." Caliban said, advancing towards the boy.
Rictor instinctively attacked, but to no avail.
"It will take more then that to defeat Caliban, boy"
"Caliban...?!? It can't be...you're so different! It's me Rictor...don't you remember? We were friends!" Rictor asked.
"That Caliban is dead...changed...beyond redemption!" Caliban replied in a voice as cold as any grave.
Then a deep growl intruded on the scene, "This Caliban'll be dead too...but first, Punk, I'll finish you!!" Sabretooth snarled and nearly disemboweled Rictor with one slash of his claws.
As Rictor fell, the stone cold voice of Caliban froze Sabretooth in his tracks.
"You perform well against children, do you not Sabretooth? Against the weak...the innocent...the unaware." Caliban was now towering over Sabretooth.
"And you ain't none of those things, right? Good!! I been spoilin' for a decent fight!!!" Sabretooth snarled as he leapt to the attack.
Sabretooth dove in slashing for all he was worth...but to no avail. With one mighty blow Caliban knocked him into the far wall of the tunnel and moved in to finish him off, even as he slid, limp to the floor.
"Prepare to make peace with your past, Sabretooth.
For you no longer have hope left for a future" Caliban intoned, all the while advancing on the seemingly helpless Sabretooth.
Creed, however, wasn't as helpless as he appeared for at the last possible moment he reached behind him and took hold of a huge section of tunnel wall, loosened by the battle, and slammed it full-force into Caliban's face, downing the giant mutant.
Creed hadn't time to gloat however since he was immediately slammed into the wall yet again, this time by Rictor who, summoning all his strength, now attacked Sabretooth.
"You're too weak, Rictor" Creed snarled, slapping the boy down to the floor again. "Your vibration powers don't amount to squat against me. Now then, little boy meat...let's finish what we started!"
"Aye, butcher of your own kind" Caliban's chill voice intoned from behind Creed. "Let Us!"
Cable and The New Mutants, meanwhile, had entered the tunnels and were fast advancing towards their missing team-mate when several huge Morlocks dropped down and surrounded them. Masque, a short gnarled figure in a hooded robe, walked forward and demanded to know the reason for their presence in the Morlock tunnels.
"If you want a fight, we can give you one...but we didn't trespass on your land with that intention. We're after one of our own. He may be in trouble." Cable informed Masque.
Masque gave them leave to carry on with the hope that they might all kill each other. Cable didn't want to waste any more time. He wanted to get Rictor and get his team out of these tunnels ASAP. "Cannonball, hit the air and scout ahead." he ordered. "Let's do this quickly, team."
They didn't have far to go. As they rounded the next bend in the tunnel they came upon the wounded Rictor and the still raging battle between Caliban and Sabretooth.
"Turn away, Children of the Atom.
Now is not Yet your time to be tested." Caliban warned.
"We're here for Rictor. Let us have him and we'll go." Cable replied.
At this moment Rahne noticed Rictor's severe injury and attacked Creed in a blind rage. Creed met her attack head-on and knocked her nearly twenty feet down the tunnel with one savage blow. Before he could even turn around however, Cannonball slammed him into the tunnel wall, breaking half the bones in his body, which began to heal even before he slid to the floor. Sunspot moved in to attack Caliban and before Caliban could return even one of Roberto's blows, Cable opened fire pinning him to the wall and ordering Tabitha to bring down the ceiling on their foe. Which she did, quite effectively ending this front of the battle.
In the few seconds that this battle took, however, Sabretooth had slunk off and had taken Rictor with him. Creed meant to toy with his prey before finishing him off. Sabretooth went too far, however, goading Rictor into a rage which caused him to unleash the full fury of his mutant power. Shaking the tunnels for miles in every direction.
Cable and the others made for the epicenter of this disturbance, fearing the worst. When they arrived however Rictor was alone. Creed had actually been afraid that the boy would bring the whole tunnel down on their heads and had fled, though not very far. As Cannonball wondered where he could be, the deep throaty voice snarled,
"Why don'tchu try...Right Behind You!!!"
The New Mutants were not impressed, however, and informed Creed that they were taking him in.
"You hurt one of us, and you answer to all. We can take you down hard or easy, Your Pick" Cable informed him.
"NO CABLE" Masque's raspy voice screamed, "HE'S OURS"
Cable saw no reason to argue this since they would be around in case the winner wanted to cause trouble and his first priorty was to get the injured Rictor back to safety. Masque's Morlock's began to surround Creed.
"We outnumber you." Masque told Creed, "No matter how many of us you..."
"No!" intoned the icy voice of Caliban, "There will be no more Morlock blood shed by this demon."
At first Masque seemed ready to argue the point. Until Caliban started to advance on him, at which point he smiled a mis-shapen smile and said, "Go gettem' Big Guy"
Creed didn't care who he killed first, since he figured he would kill them all before he was through anyway. Thus the battle was joined.
At first Sabretooth was a blur of motion. Slashing, rending, tearing but all to no avail. Caliban was relentless and finally Caliban got a firm hold on Creed. Then holding him in place with his left arm, Caliban put his right hand underneath Creed's chin and began to force it slowly back, until with a final....KRAKK....it was over.
"Tried and executed by those he wronged." Cable stated.
"Acceptable as far as I'm concerned.
It's over.
Let's go home."
