What Am I?
        by Betty Schaub

I am white with black spots
        And big brown eyes
        Of these black spots
        I have lots
        On a palette of white

        I have pointed ears
        Long nails on my toes
        And a cold black nose

My tails is long and turned up at the end
I have a loving family that took me in
My legs are straight, steady and long
And when someone takes a walk I always tag along

My people say I'm quite a prissy
But if I strayed, my presence they'd miss
I'm the one they take care of
But if truth were told I'm glad to get their love

To be good I will try
A plate of food I do spy
A bit of roast I will try
Caught in the act; what a bad girl
I run for cover in a whirl

        Discipline I do not crave
Respect and privilege is what they gave

        I have a safe home
From this place I'll never roam

        What am I?
