Caitlin Q-pid’s Arrow 4 4/4 by Dana (Caitlin) and Spooky (ST:V; G; J/C, P/T) 4/4 Disclaimers: They own ‘em, so why do we even try? Dedicated to Robert Jordon, just because we like his books, even though they have absolutly nothing to do with Voyager, Star Trek, or anything remotely to do with Sci Fi. * The kiss actually wasn’t half as bad as Janeway had expected it to be. “Ah, a Kodak moment.” said a voice from the other side of the room. It was Q. The Captain quickly opened her eyes to see who had taken his place. Chakotay. She could recognize him clear as day, but strangely, she did not pull away as everyone had expected. On the contrary, she pulled him closer. “How replusive,” Q grimaced, “She’s sucking his face in! Tuvok, call the guards!” Finally, realizing where she was, Janeway forced herself to pull away from the first officer. She could sense that Chakotay was at least mildly disappointed, as well, but dismissed it as simple hopes. *Simple hopes? Since when have I hoped for this? What has gotten into me?* she asked herself. Ever since Chakotay had started showing signs of attraction towards her, Kathryn had told herself she could not possibly love him back. Not with him as her first officer. Not with the crew depending on her to lead them home. *Command protocal* she reminded herself. But now, she couldn’t resist his winning smile, his tall, dark, handsome figure. *And his smile.* she thought. He was a compassionate, smart man, and a good officer. *And his ^smile^!* She couldn’t resist him, but she knew she had to. “I’ll be in my ready room.” she said briskly, nodding her head to hide the color brushing her cheeks. * Chakotay was still standing in shock. Everyone on the Bridge was frozen. Suddenly, the silence was broken by applause. Q was grinning pompously. “Bravo, Commander! Don’t we deserve an encore?” Commander Chakotay stalked off the Bridge. Q was still standing silently in the corner, watching the crew members on the Bridge as if they were actors (on a show called Star Trek; Voyager. Ha ha ha ha . . . we hate ourselves, goodbye!) “I will talk to the Captain,” Tuvok informed the Bridge crew and strode to the Captain’s ready room. Before he could reach his destination, Janeway barged out. “Now that that’s over, I guess I’ll be on my way,” said Q. He raised his arm to snap his fingers. “Wait, Q,” Janeway demanded, “Don’t forget about your side of the bargain. Now, Q!” There was more than a hint of annoyance in her voice. Q sighed, then snapped his fingers. Instantly B’Elanna and several other crew members appeared on the Bridge. Instantaneously, the Borg cube disapeared. “Goodbye, Mon capita.” Within a moment, Q was gone. “Captain, with your permission, I’d like to escort B’Elanna to Sickbay,” Tom said. “Of course, Mr. Paris.” replied the Captain. She shoke herself as though to get rid of cobwebs. Paris walked over, took B’Elanna’s arm, and escorted her off the Bridge, patiently listening to her queries and indignant protests about going to Sickbay. *I’m so glad I got her back. I never realized how much she meant to me until I lost her.* ********* “Well, it would seem that the Borg left no lasting mark on her, if any.” The Doctor informed Tom after he had examined B’Elanna. “I would suggest that you. . . .” “What is B’Elanna’s prognosis, Doctor?” interrupted Captain Janeway as she entered sickbay. “She should be fine, as I was saying, if she rests up for a while. No worrying about warp cores and the like. Just some genuine R & R.” “How long, Doctor?” Janeway asked. It was obvious that she was almost as anxious as B’Elanna to get back to work. “A few days, at least.” The Doctor sighed. No one around here fully appreciated what he did for them. “Doctor, I have reparis to make. I’m needed in Engineering.” “I’m sure they can manage without you for several days.” “Look, B’Elanna, I’m not going to let you hurt yourself further.” Tom stated in a relaxed but concerned voice. “I’m not hurt, Tom, I’m perfectly fine!” “B’Elanna. . . .” *I’d better get out of here before I’m dragged into the argument, like last time.* Janeway decided. She slowly edged toward the door. “You’re staying here, B’Elanna, that’s an order!” demanded Paris. “You can’t give me orders, we have the same rank!” Torres replied, her hands on her hips. Janeway shook her head, but she couldn’t stop the small smile from creeping onto her lips. “Ah, but remember, I am a Bridge officer, and therefor I have seniority.” Tom replied. *Maybe he’s won an argument, for a change.* thought Janeway. *Not likely, though.* As soon as she got back to her quarters, Janeway ordered a fresh pot of coffee from the replicator and settled into her favorite chair. She picked up the padd that was laying on the table next to her chair, her favorite novel. As an afterthought, she said, “Computer, music, late 20th century. Out of the Grey, So We Never Got to Paris.” So we never got to Paris And found the cafe of our dreams But our table holds a whole world of memories. No, we never got to Venice And strolled the streets alone, But we built our worlds together and we got the best Of both Janeway’s eyes became unfocused and her attention wandered from the novel. She found herself thinking of Chakotay, and their first kiss. ********************************************************************************************* Send us comments, critisism, cash, or Swiss choclate to deltaquad22@hotmail.com (Spooky) and dana_lynn_tighe@hotmail.com (Caitlin).
