The four friends made their way back to
Roc's hut to find that someone had been there and torn apart
the small cottage, as if looking for something!
Emera looked to Eithne and said "Who would do such a thing?".
Eithne only shook her head and sighed, "I don't know.
I only hope that I wasn't the cause of it."
Lucikly, Roc had gone fishing that afternoon and
had missed the intruders completly.
Emera and Coyote went about cleaning the mess, which
would certainly take the rest of that day and most of the next.
Then, out of the corner of her eye, Emera saw
a flash of white! She looked and there in
the corner was a very small elf!
The elf was cowering as if he thought Emera would hurt him!
"Oh, please! Don't hurt me," the little elf cried out,
"I've done nothing wrong!"
Emera walked over to him and knelt beside him and said, "I won't
hurt you, little one. My name is Emera. Whats your name?"
The little elf skiddishly stood before Emera
and said "I'm Alexander. I've been lost in these
woods for days and days and can't find my mother!
Say, is that bread on the table there? I'm so very hungry."
Emera felt sorry for the little fellow and gave
him some bread and milk. "How did you lose your
mother, little one?"

Alexander, the elf
"It was dark and we were out looking for mushrooms for our dinner
and a tall woman, taller than you even, came and told my mother that
she had to come with her. The woman said something about my mother
oweing her a favor. I don't understand it. I just want my mother!"
"Shh. There, there. I'll help you find her. And, if you'd like,
I'll be your mother until we do find here! Does that sound good to you?"
Alexander looked at her with his large brown eyes and smiled and said
"Oh, yes, Emera! I'd love that!" Alexander hugged her tight and
Coyote looked on at them and smiled. Coyote walked to the cupboard and
looked at the mess all around it. Stuck underneath it he
saw the corner of a book.
With much effort, he pulled it out. The cover was a leathery
brown colour and when he opened it, dust poured everywhere.
He leafed through the pages and decided that it must be a magick
spell book. As he was closing it, a page fell out onto the floor!
Alexander ran to it and picked it up.
Coyote thanked him and took the page and examined it. "It seems to be a map
of the island! Maybe we can use this to find Alexander's mother and to
find who destroyed Roc's home!"
Emera jumped up and down with delight and said, "Tomorrow,
Alexander, we find your mother!"
Deep inside, though, Emera knew they'd find much more than that...
