LKNB 4 'If Tomorrow Never Comes'

OK, guys, I had to write this one early. This chapter promises to be the
best one ever! It's where "the plot thickens" and some
really...interesting things happen. So, stop babbling Lauren and write
the story so the others don't hunt you down and kill you!

'If Tomorrow Never Comes'

B'Elanna left her quarters. She knew her destination, sickbay. Neelix was
most likely still there, and she wanted to talk to him, find out
everything that had happened. There were to many questions, too many
missing details. She had to know what went on in that shuttle in Tom's
final minutes.
"B'Elanna!" someone called from behind her. She turned around to see
Harry Kim running up to her. When he got a bit closer, she could tell
that he'd been crying, and that he needed someone to talk to, just like
she needed someone.
"How are you doing?" he asked her timidly.
"I'm doing about as well as you'd expect me to be doing. How about you?"
"I'm not sure. Do you want to go somewhere to talk? We can go to the
holodeck or something." he asked her.
A half-smile came up on her face. She was glad to have such a good friend
that cared so much about her right now, even if he'd just lost his best
friend. "I'd like that." she told him as she began walking towards the
holodeck.

He was in sickbay. That he could tell. He was lying down on a biobed,
looking up at the ceiling. He turned over to see who else was in there.
Neelix was lying on one of the other beds, asleep. Kes and the doctor
were talking in the office. It seemed that Kes was crying, but it was
hard to tell. He tried to remember what had happened. He was in a shuttle
with Neelix, headed down to the surface to get some food. The shuttle had
started to have problems, and he had contacted Voyager. He had explained
what was happening to the captain, and in mid-sentence, there was a flash
of light and...and...he woke up here. 
He got up slowly, and stood up. No one noticed him. Kes turned around,
and left the doc's office. He walked over to her, wondering why he didn't
see her. She walked right past him, in Neelix's direction, and picked up
a hypospray. She pressed the hypospray into Neelix's neck, and in a
matter of seconds, he was awake. Kes began to explain everything that had
happened to Neelix, and ended with the death of Tom Paris. The man stared
in shock as he ran next to Kes.
"I'm right here, Kes! I'm here!" he called out.
Neither Kes nor Neelix looked over at the man.
