LKNB ch. 2 "Shattered Mirror"

"Captain, the shuttle will be entering the atmosphere in approximatley 15
minutes." Tuvok's calm voice informed the captain. This was what worried
her. Once they got about halfway into the planet's atmosphere, she would
lose communication with the shuttle due to storms on the surface. This
was why she decided to send Tom on this mission. After all, he was "the
best damn pilot on this ship" the captain thought to herself with a
smile. She was glad that everything was going so well for Tom these past
5 years. Tom had made friends, gotten married, and would soon have a son
or daughter. This ship was really becoming sort of a small town. The
Paris child would be the fifth child on this ship, and the first to a
senior staff member. Janeway had to smile to herself at that thought. 5
years ago, when she first met Tom and B'Elanna, she never dreamed that
they would get married and start a family. Everyone on the ship, it
seemed, had found someone to finish the long trip home with. Even Harry
had given up talking about Libby, and had been seeing Erica Johnson, one
of the officers from the Maquis ship. 
"Paris to Voyager!" Tom's voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Voyager here. What is it, Tom?" Janeway said, all other thoughts pushed
aside for now.
"We're having some problems here. I'm not sure what happened. The cabin's
filled with smoke and-" his words were cut off by an explosion coming
from the shuttle.
Janeway stood up and hit her comm badge.
"Janeway to Paris." No answer.
"Janeway to Neelix"
"Neelix here, captain. I don't know where Tom is. The cabin is full of
smoke, I can't see a thing." the Talaxian's paniced voice told her.
"Beam them directly to sickbay!" the captain commanded Tuvok. She wasn't
about to lose two officers on this little mission. Not now. Not ever.

Kes watched as two transporter beams appeared, one on the main biobed,
and one on one of the others. Neelix was laying on the main biobed,
unconsious. The beams went away, but Tom hadn't materialzed yet.
"Computer, activate EMH program. Sickbay to Bridge. Captain, we've only
got Neelix down here." Kes' frightened voice told the captain.
