Convincing ~~~~~~~~~~ By: Julia Kirby, (c) 1997 Captains Log: Paris and Torres have been found and in the process of, should I say, helping B'Elanna recover. Chakotay said that B'Elanna is doing okay, but still a long way from recovery. It is my sad duty to report that Ensign Vorik did not recover from his Pon Farr. He drove himself mad and the Doctor did what he wished. He died at 1700 hours. End of Log Entry It was dark and cold. B'Elanna was lying on the ground peacefully sleeping. She and Tom had done (you know what) for more than 6 hours. HALT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I am being sick but I can't help it. BEAR with me!!!!!! Tom was sitting on a rock thinking of what had happened. B'Elanna would hate him. Literally HATE HIM!!! She would not forgive herself or him. She was recovered but just barely. A figure approached him. B'Elanna appeared and sat down beside him, careful not to get too close. She stared at the ground before speaking. "Tom, I really appreciate what you did for me, and I guess now we know each other better.." she trailed off and he could see that she was smiling. "What's so funny?" he asked. "I was just thinking of what fun I had." he stared at her for a few minutes and then smiled his cocky smile. "I did, too. Well, where are we going to take it from here?" she looked up at him and just sighed. "Let's just take it one day at a time, but one thing is for sure. Thomas Eugene Paris, you are one good kisser." Paris burst out laughing, and he knew everything would be O.K. 7 weeks after Blood Fever- B'Elanna Torres rushed into Sickbay and activated the Holodoc. "What did you want?" She asked in a big rush. "Ahh, Lieutenant, how are you this morning?" he went over to his office and sat down. He motioned for her to do the same. "It appears you have a slight problem." "Doctor, tell me what it is. I am in a rush. I have to meet Tom for dinner." "Oh, that's one thing I want to discuss. Please describe your Pon Farr." he sat down with that stupid smile of his. "Why do you need to know about that? JUST TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON!" "Okay. Please follow me." he left his office, went over to a monitor and switched it on, "These are your scans from when you were hurt last week on the away mission. I detected something strange to begin with. I checked it, and this is what I came up with." he turned with a big grin on his face, "You are going to be a mother." =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= It had been two days since the Doctor had told her that she was pregnant. She could not believe it. She had gotten pregnant by a man she just was friends with, over some weird chemical imbalance, and now she was going to be a mother. She had to tell Tom. She got up and went to his quarters. Tom looked up from the PADD he had been reading and went to the door. He opened it and was surprised to see B'Elanna standing there. "'Lanna, come in. This is a surprise. Come to confess your love to me?" he smiled. She stepped into his room. THE PLACE WAS A MESS!!!!!!!!! Shirts were everywhere and PADDS covered his desk. The bed was unmade, and a plate of Neelix's food was on a table. "Tom, I need to talk to you." "Okay, let me clear a spot." he put down the PADD and rushed to his desk. He shoved the PADDS into a case and then turned. He grabbed the plate of food and dumped it into a disposal, then grabbed the shirts and dematerialized them into the replicator. He turned then and said, "Okay, let's talk." She sat down and said, "Okay, I'm pregnant." There she had said it. "Why are you telling me this?" Tom asked. She just looked at him. He stood. "Oh, no. You mean I am the father, and we haven't even dated?" he looked as if he was going to faint. "No. This isn't happening. You are lying. Who put you up to this? Kim? Chakotay?" He ranted and raved for more than 5 minutes. B'Elanna grew tired of it. "Fine." she snapped, "You don't look like you care anyway. I will raise this child myself, without your help." And with that, she stormed out. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= Tom Paris walked into the Mess Hall. It had been three months since the fight. Three months and he had not spoken to B'Elanna. He stifled a yawn and went to the replicators. He ordered a roll and turned around and saw Freddie Bristow behind him. Ensign Bristow just glared at him and moved to one side. "Nice to see you too, Ensign." "Oh shut up, Paris. Stop being so jealous. She likes me, and that's the end of it." "Who?" "Our Chief Engineer. I heard that you guys had a disagreement. So sorry to hear it. Oh, and I also heard that she is pregnant with your baby. Such a shame that the baby is going to grow up having me as his father." That got Paris's attention. He knew that Torres and Bristow were seeing each other but this was getting a little too much. Paris pushed Bristow against the wall. HARD. "Now you listen to me, ENSIGN. *I* am the father of this child. It was not my fault. She was in a state and I had to help her. *I* will be the father of this child and-" He was cut off. "JUST WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!" They both turned to see B'Elanna Torres standing there. She had her hands on her hips and she was glaring at Bristow. "What did you say? Did I hear you right?" She started coming towards him, but he started to run. She was about to follow when Paris laid his hand on her shoulder. She knew she wasn't supposed to run. She turned on him. "What was going on?" she stared at him waiting for an answer. "Nothing. Listen, can we talk?" "There's no need for talking." she lowered his head and kissed him. Carefully. Slowly. Ensign Bristow watched from the door. Harry Kim came up beside him. He saw them kissing and turned to Bristow. "Good work, Bristow. You really are a Cupid." =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= B'Elanna Torres walked down the hall and into a turbo lift. Things were fine again. She and Tom were friends again. Well, maybe a little more then friends. She still wasn't sure where the relationship would go. Would she have this baby and have that be the end? Would he leave? She wasn't sure. All she knew right now was that she was feeling GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The turbo lift came to a halt and opened. It wasn't her deck. She saw Tom Paris standing there. She smiled brightly. This would turn to a even better day!!! He was wearing a bathing suit and had a towel thrown over his shoulder. He smiled too. "Well, 'Lanna. How are you today?" He asked, smiling his gorgeous smile and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. B'Elanna blushed. "Just fine. Where are you off to?" She asked sweeping her eyes over him for the 3rd time since he entered the lift. "Just going down to the resort for a few hours. Want to join me?" He asked as he swept his eyes over her. "Would love to. Who else you meeting?" She glanced at him. "Harry, the Doc, Janeway and Chakotay." He said. "Well, I'll meet you down there." The turbo lift arrived and B'Elanna got off. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= Ten minutes later B'Elanna arrived at the resort. It was a bright sunny day. She saw Harry, Tom, Kathryn and Chakotay at a table. She looked around. The Delaney sisters were heading toward her. *Oh no,* she thought. She started heading toward the table where Tom was, but they caught up to her. "Hi, Lieutenant," said one of them. B'Elanna could never tell them apart. "Who you meeting?" said the other. She turned to both of them. "Why do you want to know?" she snapped. Paris, who had been watching the whole ordeal, came over. "'Lanna. So glad you could come." He spun her around and kissed her. She kissed him back, sinking into the kiss. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her more. She did the same. When they finally released each other the sisters were gone. "Thanks, Tom. I knew I could count on you." "Think nothing of it." He smiled. He took her hand and walked over to the others. He looked around and saw that there was no other chairs. He was just about to give her his, but she sat him down and plopped herself down on his lap, her hands around his neck. The others glanced at each other. They got up and made excuses to leave. "Well, when should we tell them?" she asked him. They were getting married. It was that simple. They would act normal until they just tell them. But both had another secret. One that would change everybody's lives forever. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= "So, what are we going to do about.." Tom Paris trailed off. "You know, the secret." "Well, we should start looking. I mean, if we are going to do that, we need to start looking for the place." B'Elanna Torres answered. They were in the holodeck looking through places in the Alpha Quadrant to hold their wedding. "How's this one?" Tom Paris asked as he created a planet that very familiar. It was Kessik. The rolling green plains, the wide spread lakes and the tropical rainforests. Torres looked around like she was in a dream. She turned. "I don't know. It brings back memories." "That's okay," Paris said quickly. "Wait, I got it!!!" Torres said. "She grabbed the PADD from Tom and whipped through the choices. She pressed a few buttons and they were standing on an ivory platform. All around them were waterfalls. The sound of water pounded down. A hazy mist settled the sky. They were surrounded except for a narrow walkway leading to the mainland. "Where is this?" Paris asked, looking around amazed. "On Betazed. They are the Odrian Falls," she replied. "Well, I think we found the place for the wedding!!!" Paris said. "Are you two love birds done yet?" came a voice from behind. They turned to see Harry with Kes. Kes was holding flowers and Harry was holding other decorations. "Yes. I think we are done. Why?" Paris answered. "You two have done quite enough work for today. B'Elanna you look tired. you should get off your feet. Go back to your quarters and lie down," Kes said, eyeing B'Elanna's growing stomach. "That would be a good idea. My feet are starting to swell." She headed toward the door. She turned. "Are you coming, Tom?" she asked. "No, I have to go on duty. I'll see you in a few hours," he replied. He gave her a kiss and they headed different directions. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= "Reporting for duty, Captain," Paris said as he entered the bridge. "Ahh.... there you are. Come here and take a look at this," Janeway said. She was standing near Tuvok's station. He came over. "What is it, Captain?" he asked her. "Look at this. Human life signs, coming from the fourth planet. There seems to be a field of some sort surrounding the planet. We can't transport through it or take a shuttle down, it would rip it apart. Could we take Voyager down herself?" Janeway asked. "Uhh... I believe so. Don't know if we could get back up, but if there are humans down there, I say we take the risk," Paris said. This was it. If there were humans down there, he and 'Lanna could stay with them. That's what the whole thing was about. He and B'Elanna wanted to settle on a planet. Peacefully. Raise a family. Live a long life and die. But now it would be even better...... =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= It was a rough ride but they had made it. Voyager was now settled on a wide plateau. No scratches, no damage. Janeway, Chakotay, Kes, Paris, Kim, Torres and Tuvok exited the ship. Waiting for them was a small group of humans, Romulans and Klingons. A human male stepped forward. "My name is Derek Het. I was Captain of the U.S.S. Carmen, and who are you?" "My name is Captain Kathryn Janeway, Captain of Voyager. We were brought to the Delta......." As she continued with the story, Paris looked around. The planet was green. VERY GREEN. At least here. In the distance he could hear and see the ocean. Behind him were bunches of small buildings. "And that is how we ended up here," Janeway finished. Captain Het frowned. "That's about the same story as us. We grew weary of traveling. We found this planet and put down roots. We are safe from many races. They cannot maneuver their ships through the field. We could, barely. Our ship was destroyed when we tried to leave once. You may be wondering why Klingons and Romulans are here. Before we were thrown into the Delta quadrant, the Carmen had picked up a distress call. We arrived on the scene to find a Romulan and Klingon ships firing on each other. Both were nearly destroyed. We beamed aboard the survivors and then we were thrown into the Delta quadrant. You are welcome to stay here." "We need time to think about it, Derek." She turned and motioned her crew around her. "Do you think they would want to stay here?" Paris spoke up. B'Elanna looked at him, urging him. "Captain, B'Elanna and I wish to stay here." =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= Janeway looked across her desk at two of her best officers. B'Elanna Torres. An brilliant engineer who came aboard as a hothead. Tom Paris. Probably the best pilot in the federation. A womanizer and criminal given a second chance. Now united with love for each other and the child growing inside Lt. Torres. They wanted to leave Voyager, settle, live a life among the humans they found. WHY? "Of course, I will let you do this... but are you sure you want to?" she asked. "Captain, we have thought about this for a Long time. We want to settle down, raise a family and not worry about having our children die when they are still young," Tom Paris said, glancing at B'Elanna. "Well, then I give you my best wishes. I am addressing the crew about staying here. Several people might want to settle down. We will do the same thing when we encountered the other humans. Dismissed." They got up and left. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= "Janeway to all hands," she waited. "All of you are aware of the planet we found. A civilization willing to let us stay. Whoever wants to, report to Cargo Bay 4 for instructions. Janeway out." She sat back and sighed. If too many stayed behind, then the whole ship would have to. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= Janeway made her way to the Cargo Bay for the second time since they arrived in the Alpha Quadrant. Last time she had been lucky. No one stayed behind. But this time, she thought, many would. She stopped outside the door and took a deep breath. She walked in and gasped. Tom and B'Elanna were there, Kim stood a few feet behind them with Kes, several ensigns stood around and the Delaney sisters were in a corner pointing towards Tom. There were probably 75 people gathered around. Then as she looked around, her eyes found Chakotay. He didn't meet her gaze, staring at the floor. He looked up and looked away. She couldn't believe it!! Chakotay was leaving Voyager. They had no choice but to stay. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= B'Elanna rang the chimes at Tom's quarters and waited. She heard a crash and a bang from inside. "You okay, Tom???" she hollered. "Just fine!!!! Come on in!!" he yelled back. She entered to find Tom spread out on the floor, a chair upturned and a glass of coffee all over. "What happened??" she asked. "Just sort of tripped." He said getting up. B'Elanna took a seat and put her feet on the a table. It was getting harder and harder to move around for she was getting larger by the day. tom sat down beside her and put his hand on her stomach. The baby was moving around. He looked up at her and she looked at him. He leaned forward and was about to give her a kiss, when Torres stopped him. "I have to meet Kes to make sure everything is right for my dress." Torres said referring to the wedding that was taking place in a later that evening. "Right, I have to meet with Harry to see how the holodeck is." He said, getting up. He helped her up too. "I'll see you at the altar." She was about to leave when he threw his arms around her and passionately kissed her. She was surprised but kissed him back. He released her. "Had to that for the last time. The next time you will be B'Elanna Paris. You are changing your last name??" he asked. "Yes, might as well join the mighty family of Paris." she said. B'Elanna gave him one more hug and then went to meet Kes. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= It was the night. Paris was getting married. He was standing at the altar, waiting for his bride. He was nervous, standing beside the Tuvok. Tuvok had been given the formality of conducting the ceremony. B'Elanna had chosen Janeway and Kes as her bridesmaids. Tom had, of course, chosen Harry for his best man. Chakotay was to walk B'Elanna up the isle. B'Elanna, Kes, and Janeway were all huddled into B'Elanna's quarters. Getting ready for the 1st wedding on Voyager. Kes looked elegant in a light blue dress. It when down just a little in the front and was long and flowing. It twirled around her when she walked. Janeway wore grayish bluew gown that mathched the pattern of which Kes wore. She looked beautiful. B'Elanna an off the shoulder, white dress. The skirt went down to her ankles. She had on a white veil that went down her back. It fit her comfortably. It had too. The baby was becoming a bigger bulge each day. Clips held her hair back. They all turned to look once in the mirror and then together they headed toward the holodeck. The wedding ceremony went perfectly. The reception was elegant. Except for Harry spilling champane everything was fine. They were really married!!! =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= It was 3 days after the wedding. Moving day. Voyager was to be dismantled and used for the settlement. Derek Het was thrilled that they decided to stay. When The Doctor had found out about Voyager being dismantled he was panicked. He thought he would be dismantled to. B'Elanna had found a way to let him charge his modal amidor, so he could move around and never drain power. Tom Paris and his new wife, B'Elanna Paris, were in there quarters packing. They had been issued a little cottage on the edge of town. It had 6 bedrooms and comfortable living quarters. All of a sudden B'Elanna sat down. She felt her stomach. The baby was turning and kicking. "Tom, it's time." "Time for what, hon?" he asked turning. "The baby.... baby...... is......is..... COMING!!!!" she yelled letting her anger take control. "Oh, shit. Paris to transporter room 2. Beam me and Lt. Torres to sickbay." "May I please know what is wrong?" the ensign said. "She's having a baby, now shut up and transport us." he yelled. The transporter whipped them away. =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= B'Elanna materialized on the main Bio Bed with Paris next to her. She was gasping for breath. She tried to sit up but fell back. "Doctor, get in here. Where's Kes?" Tom yelled. The doctor came in with Kes and immediately started helping B'Elanna. B'Elanna screamed with pain and rage. Tom grapsed her hand. "Push!" the doctor commanded. B'Elanna squeezed his hand so hard he heard a snap. Pain shot through his hand. He bit his lip. Now was not the time. B'Elanna pushed. She screamed again. "Here it comes!!" Kes told B'Elanna encouragly. "Your almost done!" B'Elanna screamed once more and was silent, panting for breath. "Congradulations. It's a girl." he said. he wrapped the baby in a blanket and handed her to B'Elanna. She let go of Tom's hand a stroked her daughter's cheek. Kes came up and ran a machinge over Tom's finger. B'Elanna had broken it. He thanked Kes and then looked at his daughter. She was tiny. Her eyes were closed and she was still. "Is she okay?" Paris asked. "She was 3 months premature. She'll be fine, though she will always be very small." the Doctor told him. He nodded and stroked his daughter's cheek. "What should we call her??" he asked B'Elanna. "Celence. Celence Dariah Paris." she answered. He nodded and leaned down to give her a kiss. This was the best day of his life. But if only he knew what would tear it apart.
