Chapter One - The Wrong Door

This story happened long ago.  Polly, a girl from London meets a boy.  Digory is his name.  He has to stay
with his Aunt and "mad" uncle (If his uncle is truly mad I don’t know).  His uncle tries to say something to
him at the end of meals; his aunt doesn’t let his uncle say anything.  His mother is sick.  He thinks that his
uncle keeps someone in his (uncle’s) study.  Digory finds a tunnel.  He discusses things with Polly (who is
never called her).  Polly wrote a story.  They want to go to the abandoned house.  That house is beside
Digory’s house.  Polly’s dad thinks that the house is empty because of the drains. They did a sum to see
how big a house was; (they were in a hurry).  They open a door.  When they opened the door they met an
indoor light (gas).  Polly went in.  There is a strange humming noise.  Polly thinks no one is there.
Digory’s uncle is there.  His uncle sys that he must give a ring to Polly.  Polly says that she must go home
