SUMMER ARTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN (NORTH CAMPUS)

AND INTERLOCHEN

The University of Michigan, School of Music has two program each summer for students interested in the arts.

1. SUMMER ARTS INSTITUTE, July 16-July 29, 2000 for students

COMPLETING GRADES 6-9 interested in attending a summer camp for band, orchestra, choir or piano. Every student applying to the Summer Arts Institute is REQUIRED to audition for admission to the program. Auditions will take the form of a cassette tape recording (no live auditions) and each recording requires music from specified periods or styles. A non-refundable $25 application fee due with application.

APPLICATION & TAPE DEADLINE:

MARCH 31 (applications received after this date will be considered for admission based on available openings. This will take place on U.of M.'s north campus. Fees: $975 residential, $635 daycamper.

2. ALL-STATE PROGRAM at INTERLOCHEN,

June 18-July 1 (band & choir) for students COMPLETING grades 9-12.

OR

July 2-July 15 (orchestra, piano, musical theater, jazz, flute, and saxophone workshops) for students COMPLETING grades 9-12.

Each camp and area of study requires specific auditions. Each 2-week session is $975. A nonrefundable $25 application fee due with application.

APPLICATION DEADLINES ARE:

March 1, 2000 for musical theater and piano with live auditions preferred (theater auditions March 24 and 25; piano auditions March 19 and March 25)

March 31, 2000 for all other areas of study--cassette auditions due with applications. All inquiries should be made to All-State Office, School of Music at the same address and phone as given above.

They request that you stick to these deadlines regardless of whether there are scholarships pending.
