Young Lovers Tie the Knot Behind Closed Doors

Verona, Italy: Monday- Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet were married after Friar Laurence agreed to conduct the ceremony in secrecy.

The two young lovers had to elope due to the continuous rivalry between their families. They met the day before at the Capulets dinner party, which Romeo crashed. Romeo and Juliet fell in love, and agreed to marry the next day. At the party, Romeo was heard to be saying, Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I neer saw true beauty till this nigh.

Although Romeo and Juliet met the day before they got married Sunday, they were already very much in love. When overheard during their first meeting, Juliet states, A thousand times good-night! Romeo responded to Juliet with A thousand times the worse, to want thy light! Love goes towards love, as schoolboys from their books; But love from love, toward school with heavy looks. People sneaking among the bushes Sunday night also heard other confessions of love from Romeo and Juliet and vice versa.

Despite their deep affection for each other, Romeo and Juliets parents have been fighting for years. Due to this fact, they had to wed in secrecy. The rivalry was such a big problem for their families that the first time Juliet found out Romeo was a Montague she said, O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore are thou Romeo? Deny they father, and refuse they name.

Only one guest was present at the wedding- Juliets faithful Nurse. The Nurse also arranged the wedding. On the wedding day, Monday, she found out Romeos plans for Juliet and relayed the message to Juliet. Following this, the couple met at Friar Laurences cell.
