Ask Your Legislator These Questions
1. Will you support legislation that provides every annuitant who began receiving a retirement annuity before January 1, 1980 a monthly retirement increase, ranging from 5% if the annuity began in 1979 to 32% if the annuity began in 1973 or before? (These are the retirees who did not experience the increase in teacher salaries that occurred in 70's and 80's due to high inflation.)
2. Will you oppose any action to prohibit subsidizing the state budget with cutbacks in appropriations to the TRS system? (e.g. $2.1 billion cut from the FY06 and FY07 Illinois state budgets).
3. Will you oppose any effort to consolidate the several state retirement systems instead of allowing TRS and the others to maintain their own control over investments and programs?
4. (FEDERAL) Will you support the repeal of the federal pension off-set provision which blocks TRS members and certain other public employees from receiving Social Security benefits that they have otherwise earned?
A one-minute call by YOU could make the difference. Be a cheerleader for IRTA! ![]()
Thank you!
