AVAILABLE ACTIVITIES

AND THE

COUNTRYSIDE

Most participants will be in residence at Dream Catchers' Ranch for varying lengths of time. Participants might reside for a weekend, a summer or the year depending on their circumstances and need. Many of the activities that the kids will enjoy are structered around the National 4-H activities and projects. The activities are designed to help bring out the hidden talents and personalities of the children. As a result, the participants learn leadership, responsibility and social skills while having fun.

Through horsemanship they will learn proper riding techniques, safety, and grooming. They will also learn proper care and maintenance of the horse, such as feeding and watering and proper shelter. Besides the fundamentals of horsemanship, they learn the essential nature of teamwork and self-control. They will learn proper care and maintenance of riding and safety equipment. The riding lessons will be tailored to each individual's experience, abilities, and needs.

There will be trail rides on an established Forest Serivce Trail throught the Humboldt National Forest. The trail is filled with sites of beauty and the grandeur of athe Duck Creek Basin. This basin is filled with deer and elk, and streams filled with native Brook Trout. All in all, this trail and its opportunities are examples of Mother Nature at her finest and provide many learning opportunities for the children.
