First off, I believe I got this CD with a flyer proclaiming that they were a gothic surf band. This is simply an erroneous claim. The Vampire Beach Babes are a surf band of the worst kind : they actually sing. I really have a problem with a lot of surf music, unless it is the classic Dick Dale or something instrumental, like Israel's The Astroglides. This music sounds like it is from a Fritos' commercial instead of actual surf music. "Gothmobile" and "Tomb Mau Mau" are the height in annoying music, and I still don't understand why they did this CD. I try to be open to all forms of music, but I still know when an act is utterly and totally garbage. I mean, when a song's chorus is "I've got horseshoes up my ass", I really shouldn't be expecting something with intense artistic merit, but I guess when I was playing this band on the show I host for college radio, I wasn�t listening closely. The one positive thing that I can say about this CD is that it is blissfully short, only running about 23 minutes. If you are a fan of totally kitschy bands, I would recommend this band, but if you are looking for some serious music, either in the Goth genre or the Surf genre, I can give you literally a list of about 100 bands that are better than these schmucks.
