Some more excellent music from this off of Tiberius records. This three guy band really rocks out, using a sonal wave to wash over their listeners with all of their indie fabulousness. I would rather have a full album by these guys, but these four songs, aside from being ever-present in my CD player, will tide me over until that happens. Heavy experimentation by this band really ensures that no one listener gets tired with the music they play, as different arrangements, aside from different tempos and sounds are abound on this CD. I can't say all the topics of their songs are different, as they follow the general lost-love style of most indie rock acts, but the style of the lyrics, all containing a different though, is something that I have not seen much. Every line is so laconic, and this only adds to the power that thistle has as a band. In fact, the lyrics on this disc are so laconic that it makes normal recitation of them seem as if they were first penned in a different language. Take, for example, "Alive, but oxidized, it's never fair. No sleep for swollen eyes and tired hands.", from the title track. These lyrics are chock full of rhetorical devices, and a casual listener will not be able to appreciate the music as much as someone who will actually go and spend some time reading the lyrics, both along with the music and as their own, as poetry. Go to www.thistlewired.com to check out the band, and to find a link for how to buy this, as well as their prior effore, "Sea Legs".
