Show and tell vol. 2

I don't know how to review compilation CDs. It doesn't help because about 99% of the ones I get feature bands that come from all different walks of life, and this one is no exception. For those who haven't been reading the reviews of the Breaking World Records bands, they all come from very different backgrounds, and as a result, have a very different sound, each and every one of them. Two of the songs on the disc I have reviewed in other formats. They are out. But, that leaves about 17 different songs for me to pick from. Instead of trying to make a synopsis of every single song that is on the disc, it will be better if I just go and cover the main tracks that made me groove. First off is The Twobers with "Solar Surfing", a track that reminds me of another BW band, TDNDOK, with an electrified rap sound to it. Next off is DJ wonderboy, with "Behind the Barn", a song that seemingly owes a lot to other trip-hop and sampling bands like The Avalanches. Arthur Liebenstille, with "My Butt Fell Off", seems destined for noodling around in the studio, and Monistat and The Yeasties remind me of a band that listens to a lot of Zappa. But, by far, the best track on this disc is the ultimate song, the cover by bengeorge7 of Sinead O'Connor's single biggest hit, "nothing compares 2 u", which is modified into a form almost totally unrecognizable.
