2002, Self Released. This band draws some heavy parallels to bands such as Hatebreed,Pantera, Sick of It All, and the like. So, you should be able to guess what they sound like. Quickly spat out heavy rock/rap sounding lyrics that deal with the tried and true hardcore tenets of unity, honor, and the like. Iowa, where this act is from, is known for spawning such shit-core bands as Slipknot. Provoke is better then Slipknot, and I dont mean that to be a two-edged compliment. While there is a lot of innovative sounding guitar riffs, the lyrics and drumming seem to play in a second fiddle role. The recording is strong, but one doesnt help but wonder whether if something couldnt have been done to modify the almost-tinny sounding drums. Things would go a lot better for the CD if the drums were more full-sounding. I dont think it is a volume thing, but a clarity thing. This CD is actually a few months old, and I think that there would have had to be some progression in their music. As of this CD, the music tends to run together a little bit, only being distinguished by different sounding riffs. I believe that this band has talent, and is working to eradicate this problem. E-mail John at [email protected] if this sounds like a CD you wish to buy.
