Plea for Peace : Take Action, Volume 2.

The first third of the first disc is all sorts of pop-punk bands with on and off political sentiments, including Anti-Flag, Common Rider, but the next third goes off into hardcore and sludge-core acts, making me ask the question exactly why the CD is cordoned off so exactly like that. I mean, it would make sense if the CD was all over the place, like a pop-punk band could be followed by a hardcore band and so on and so on, but this division of the tracks into some sort of genre format really makes people who may not be into a specific type of music listen to five or six songs in a row of a genre that they may only be able to listen to if it was interspersed with other styles and tracks. All and all, though, the bands that were chosen for this two disc set are of the highest caliber, and really give the cause that they are fighting for (reducing suicides) that added importance. The most impressive tracks out of this star-studded compilation include Common Rider's "Longshot", Recover's "Rodeo", both on disc 1, and Taking Back Sunday's "Cute Without The E" and Moneen's "The Start to this May be the End to Another" from Disc 2. Personally, I could do without all the hardcore and sludgecore that are on these disc, but I think that Asian Man and Sub City are more than justified in going and placing the bands on the disc, as there are most definitely fans of the genre. Get this disc at any of the local record stores, for a impressive price.

Rating : 7.4/10.
