Self release, for a total of 66:25, averaging to 3 minutes a song. The recording leaves something to be desired, but the aggression put forth by these far outweighs any amount of crappy recording. The guitar, drums, and vocals are all played at breakneck speed. Phallus has definite influences to Anal Cunt and Aus Rotten. While there is no bass on this CD every instrument helps fill it in. At some times it may be hard to figure out what Chris is saying, but the lyrics sheet is invaluable because it actually shows how well written these lyrics are. I need to see these guys live. They put for a vibe that isn’t able to be catalogued and intrigues me to no end. “Plutonium” has some simply amazing guitar lines along with assloads of distortion and a amazingly catchy chorus. “Who Cares?”, the next song, is full of energy and has more amazing guitar work to it. Chris, like the vocalist from S.B.H., has an a odd timbre to his voice that endears him to his friends. “Asbestos In Your Braun” is much more melodic then any of the other tracks on this disc, with “happy” sounding vocals (they aren’t happy lyrics, an example is “a thorn in your side is a needle in my eye”). “See Throguh You”’s beginning has a very sinister part in what sounds like a Lolita Storm/Marilyn Manson duet. “Little Ball Of Hate” is the closest thing phallus have recorded to being the musical equivalent of a seizure. “I’ Gonna” seems like a drunken Radiohead outtake, with very catchy guitars and tons of moaning vocals. “I Hate Limp Bizkit” has the best work by Jones, the drummer, as the track begins with a hella cool drum beat. “Burnout” is another Phallus song that actually has some harmony, as I they were listening to some At The Drive In right before practice. Which is a nice change from the vast majority of the CD. “Fuck You” is another very darkly sounding track, and I just realized that there aren’t any covers on this disc, which is odd for an independent band like this. “No Exception” has either a untold bass or a guitar tuned really low, but either way it shows another way that Phallus can change to stay fresh. I have no clue how to get to Phallus, but if you go to http://platinumrecords.4t.com, that’s the label they are on.
