Interesting recording with half-spoken, half-screamed vocals. The guitar is also screeching, with weird trash-can beats on the drums. I have no clue what to think of Laminator. This band is broken up, which is always a sad thing to hear. The drum beats are at times infectious, and at other times emanating a sound much like a drunk man beating on a trashcan. When the guitarist isnt trying to make the cockrock-soloish riffs and just is jamming, he isnt half bad. I only wish that these guys included a lyrics sheet as I absolutely have no fucking clue what they are singing. Why, at places the lead vocalist sounds like he is crying, others he is just talking. Laminator is the closest thing I have heard to a punk version of an ambient band or acid-rock band, as the perfect atmosphere for this music would be trying to zone out or trip. Also the tape is way too short to adequately review, seeming like the tap e only went on for about 13 minutes, at about a 1:30-1:45 a song. One of the guys from Laminator actually runs Vile Generation, a magazine whose review, if it isnt, will be up on the webpage. One interesting fact about Laminator is that they existed for 7 months, had between2 and 14 members, and was featured in Korrang!, the European better of Metal Edge/Circus. Email these guys at [email protected], or look for Bleedin Ear Records online.
