Knut-Bastardizer

Recorded in 1997, came out Winter 2000, formed in 1994, from Geneva. 9 songs, major band, famous enough to play on the same stages as Voivod and Neurosis. This 4 piece band on Hydrahead records is extremely heavy and talented, instead of plodding over the same riff time and time again, they mix up the order to make an enjoyable Thrash metal CD> Philippes guitars, Roderics drums, and Thierrys bass work perfectly with Didiers vocals. But by far the best part of the CD are the guitars, successfully meshing Rust In Peace-era Megadethic riffs with the Coal Chamber style of riffs that are so popular today. Bands like Linkin Park, Disturbed, and Drowning Post have taken a great deal of the style that has made them famous from this band. Again, a much needed addition to this CD would have to be a lyrics sheet, as the screamed out vocals are entirely impossible to decipher. Apparently these guys are so popular that they have a trivial pursuit question about them in the Swedish version of the game. The continued success of this band could possibly bring Knut to the American shores, where they would be of such station to play with Sacred Reich, Six Feet Under, and Diecast. This wonderfully brutal music will live on for an extremely long time. Im foreseeing the band to be leaders in their field, much like Venom in Black Metal or Minor Threat in Hardcore. 7 years is a long time for a band to be together, but Knut flew through that anniversary this year, on its way to hopefully many more years of success. Fungus Mat has a much more toned down tempo to it, giving the song that much more of an evil feel to it. The guitars make a haunting melody, easily making this one of the best songs on the disc. Wiped Out sees Thierry lay down some scorching bass lines as the guitar lines thoroughly parade around all sides, making a powerful song. Descents sound is that of Chaos A.D. era- Sepultura, with the pseudo-Korn guitar riff, acting as a klaxon sound and the amazing screaming weve come to expect from Knot.
