2000 Nuclear Blast. This Stockholmian band was founded in 1987 by singer guitarist Peter Tagtgren, going through departures that have the number of musicians on this album at three. After a 5- ear lapse from formation to first album, the band has made 10 albums in 9 years, this latest effort taking only 5 weeks to record and mix. Incredibly fast delivery, no lyrics sheet, but all three parts of the band seem to be in a race to see which one-vocals, guitars, or drums can play the fastest. The result of the race is a set of songs that are at such urgency that it makes you want to get up and mosh but are yet so perfect in delivery that it makes one sit and wonder how someone could make their instrument sound this way. The songs have no problem interlocking perfectly with each other. Hypocrisy is so innovative that it hardly seems right to try and find band near to the sound to these guys. But to Hypocrisy, no band can honestly compare. They are the leaders of speed/black metal, and they simply blow away all newcomers to this genre. Europe has some of the best bands in the world, and I for one am sorry to be stuck in America, never able to see a Hypocrisy video or watch Hypocrisy live. If they haven’t yet, it is high time for Hypocrisy to come to the states. In “Resurrected”, Hypocrisy gives Progressive metal bands like Blind Guardian a kick in the ass. The great thing about Hypocrisy is the fat that the bass is rarely, if ever, heard and yet it doesn’t matter as the other instruments more then make up for the low bass. “Fire in the sky” is another very sharp song, with a harder edge then “Resurrected” but still has some of thee fantasy elements to it.
