This is the first volume of these CDs that I have received, and I must say, for as compilation, this flows extremely well. Deep Elm does an amazing job in selecting specific bands to go and represent the future of the Emo movement, and ensures that all sub-genres, sounds, speeds, and tempos can be represented on this disc. From the fast, open-sore sound of kelly8 to the intensely expressive down-notes of hateen, a listener is just compelled to listen to the disc until the last notes have played themselves out. deep elm has their ears to the ground, as some of the tracks that are on this disc surely go into the realm of great, undiscovered songs. the colour blue's "Of Our Disregard" fits perfectly into this category, moving from the bareness of a typical emo song into a soft jazz groove that ends the song and only serves the purpose of ensuring that the song will remain in one's mind long after hearing the disc. I just have to say that any of these songs would work perfectly on MTV2 or your local college radio station. These songs are of such a high caliber that they would be comfortable anywhere, and it just shows the vitality of a scene that many people are forecasting to die in the next year years. I thank you, Deep Elm, for showing me that there is really more to emo than the thousands of bands that try to rip off Jimmy Eat World and At the Drive-In.
