size, 28 p- This zine is another of the perzines that tend to completely bounce of the walls. Sean definitely has mad skills with whatever editing tool he uses, and this zine is heavily polished, something that is usually not found in perzines. Son of Slime has some really good spaces for a quarter sized zine. While it still has a tone of writing, there are a number of pages on which nothing besides a background and a few words are located. For being a year old, the magazine, like a number of others, still seems to be ageless. In fact, much of the artwork (computer generated) seems more like to be from the early 90?s, harking back to such memorable zines as Terra X and Third Nail. Interspersed with the obligatory poetry are some awesome exercises in narrative writing, detailing person events in such a vivid way that one is awed by each and every word. Even if this doesn?t sound like the type of magazine by the way I described the personal pieces, get this for the backgrounds. Sean does some excellent stuff with Photoshop that simply blows me out of the water.
