Profane Existence-Issue 38

July 2000. 40 pages, normal size. This magazine from Minneapolis is very cool with a definite uber-political stance. In fact this magazine is so awesome that they offer free subscriptions to prisoners. http:///www.profaneexistence.com has the latest copy of the magazine in a .PDF format. Events worldwide are listed for the next few moths. A very interesting piece is one the following page, detailing the crackdown of Skuld Records, a German label, for allegedly not paying import taxes. Also chronicled are the events that occurred on May Day 2000, with a very intelligently written piece. An article about the Anti-OAS march provides the magazine with more excellent writing, and the sidebar lists the various collections of anarchist websites. 2 pages are laid out for anti-WTO articles, which all paint different views of the events of that week in Seattle. A treatise on getting groups together is very laudably written, with the final bit of news focusing on the international news of the day. 3 pages of letters follow, then 2 pages of ads. After these 5-easily passable pages, the best part of the rag lies in the middle-a wonderful interview with Aus-Rotten. Adrienne, a part time member of Aus-Rotten, actually had an article in Slug & Lettuce, further showing how widespread Slug & Lettuce is. Another of the high points of Profane Existence is the report entitled American Eugenics and the Nazi Regime, about Americas involvement with eugenics during the 1930sand the later assimilation by the Nazis. Dans column properly the reason the stopping of Profane Existence, in another amazingly written article. A duet of articles put the FPO of Austria in a cold, cynical light. Reviews are short, as they should be, and the reading public is given an idea about Bougainville
