Outbox #1

I know its has been months and months since I first read this zine, and I realize how influential it has gotten among the perzine circles, but I simply cannot stand it. I must give it points for a truly innovative concept, having a number of e-mails printed, but really it comes off as just another zine that is directly copied from a diary. I don't believe the amount of these zines that I've gotten latly, and while I have seen some decent ones, I can't say the same about this one. If I wanted to, I could also spend a few hours collecting e-mails to my girlfriend and throw them together as well. I mean, if someone wants to show how sensitive they are, why don't they address the zine-reader, as opposed to some girl he's had a fling with? And why can't the zine-reading public see exactly what the girl e-mailed him back with? A number of these e-mails reference things in the e-mails of the female part of the relationship, but one has to guess at what those things could be, as they are only murkily discussed in his e-mail. Perhaps the second issue of this magazine is better. I have absolutely no clue. If you still want to buy this magazine, send $1.50 to Seriously Sub Rosa Productions, 8101 Geary Boulevard, #102, San Francisco, CA 94121.
