September 1, 2006 (Friday)
After Evening Prayer was over I was more then ready to leave the seminary and finally get into town. I went to Saint Joseph with Sam and Anton. We started off with the greatness of Chipotle, then to Borders, then to Best Buy, and finally to a lot of ice cream at ColdStone. While at Borders I bought a new Bible. This bible by far has to be the most liberal thing that I have ever seen. It is called the Message//Remix. I will now type out the Our Father for you so you can come to agree with me: "Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Set the world right, Do what's best- as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgive others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You're in charge! You can do anything you want! You're ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes." I had to pick a copy up of this version because it is super funny. If you ever get to see a copy make sure to look at Psalm 51.
September 2, 2006 (Saturday)
I had nothing at all going on today, but sticking around here and taking it easy. I did get a chance to go to Wal-Mart for a bit, but once that was over it was back here to do nothing. I ran into a great website that I hope you all will start using. It is called www.prolifesearch.com and is a great search engine much like google. The best part of it is each time you use it you are helping the cause of prolife because they give 50% of the profits to prolife causes.
September 3, 2006 (Sunday)
Big news in the world of Optional Reason. They have finally finished recording their demo titles "9,206." You can listen to the five new tracks they recorded at their website www.optionalreason.com. At 7pm today we started our first Day of Recollection of the school year. The speaker is Reverend Mister Keating. He has been really good so far and has left us with the question of what is getting in the way of us coming to truly know our Lord. "O Lord I chase after shadows" - Saint John Neumann. "Christ does not want to admire you he wants to love you." "Do we love our sins more then Christ?" After the conference was over we had Holy Hour which has now been offically moved to 7:45pm Sunday. During Holy Hour I made a Confession and then spent the rest of my time reflecting over a book called "The Furrow" by Josemaria Escriva. Seeing how we are on retreat we will not have classes tomorrow!
September 4, 2006 (Monday)
For all the other schools out there besides this one you are out of school due to it being Labor Day. For us here at Concpetion we are out because it is a Day of Recollection. I have some more good quotes that I got from the Confrences. "Voices from within are ocnfused by our American culture." "Receive the voices. Then purify the voices. We want to hear only the voice of the Master." "We will never be able to forget past sins, but in time these sins will have no affect over us." "What is coming is better then what you have left behind." "We need to move from being weak infront of evil to being weak infront of the divine." After the retreat ended we had a annual Labor Day picnic with all the seminarians and monks. Tonight I have to start my one page paper for Modern Philosophy. The only problem is I am completely confused to what is going on.
September 5, 2006 (Tuesday)
Today was a day which seemed to just get worse and worse. It all started when I woke up and looked at the weekly schedule to see who would celebrate Mass. It turned out being Father Jose which means we had a Spanish Mass. Then I looked under that and seen the first of four alcohol seminars was scheduled later in the day. The Spanish Mass was like usual a bunch of Hispanics playing instruments which should not be allowed in a church. The seminar was also a great waste of time. It is such a wonderfull thought that those who made us attend this do not have to go!
September 6, 2006 (Wednesday)
It was another busy day here at CSC. Once all my classes were done I had to take the ever dreaded Skip Test. After the Skip Test I left for Apostolics with Sam. We ended up eating at Chipotle before going to Saint James for a CCD Teacher Meeting. I have been assigned to work with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in a classroom with five children. Sam will get to help the priest of the parish teach the RCIA program. It is great that I finally get to work with the kids again. I only hope that I will be able to drop down to their level and teach them many new thing about their faith.
September 7, 2006 (Thursday)
It is now 11:28pm and I just finished writing my philosophy paper on the history of the Pre-Socratic philosophers. It is good that I am done with this paper, but also bad because I must now move on to Latin. I think I will be able to finish all my Latin up in at least thirty minutes. My scheduled stayed busy thanks to have a Community Council Meeting. At this meeting I was offically sworn into office. We will meet again next Thursday so we can discuss committee budgets.
September 8, 2006 (Friday)
I was very tired for most of the day, but woke right up once Evening Prayer was over and I was on my way to get some Mexican food. All is looking good for the possibility of me getting to get away early for Thanksgiving Break due to an ordination. All my teachers have said this will be OK, but I still must go to Father Samuel to get the final decision. I also want to write something down about a complete fool, or actually two of them. This being Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. According to Brad he is not going to get married to her because marriage is not fair. He says as soon as anyone can get married he will. I hope to we will never see the day when this country throws out the true meaning of marriage for a fool like this. Marriage is ment to be between one man and one woman and for no one else. This is not a rule of man, but instead a rule of God.
September 9, 2006 (Saturday)
Got up around 6:45am so I could get ready to take off for Kansas City. We made it to a parish in KC for the traditional Trinitine Mass, but for some reason it was not held today. Since we did not get to attend Mass we just went to the Plaza. Here we stopped at the MAC Store, the giant Barnes and Noble, and the Sony Store. After the Plaza we ended up driving around KC trying to find something to do, but eventually gave up because of the city being so busy. We then went to Saint Joseph to go to Best Buy and then had supper at Red Lobster. After eating we stopped at a CD store and then it was back to Conception for the usual CSC fun of doing much of nothing.
September 10, 2006 (Sunday)
Today was a day filled with doing nothing. I got to watch some football action, but it stinks that the Titans lost today to the Jets. After football I had to make a Knights of Columbus meeting. After the meeting it was back to doing nothing for the rest of the day. Tonight we will see the battle of the Mannings when the Colts take on the Giants. I also need to take some time to do my Modern Philosophy and my Latin.
September 11, 2006 (Monday)
Today is the fifth anniversary of the tragic attacks on this country. Let us remember those who died on that day as well as pray for peace. Today all those who have not been Virtus trained had to head into Maryville for a 6pm Meeting. I was trained back in Knoxville, so I did not have to attend. With so many people being gone thanks to this training we just had a buffet supper instead of the usual sit down waste of time. Today this site passed up the 5,000 hits mark. I am now half way to getting it to five digits.
September 12, 2006 (Tuesday)
Not to much went down today. I got to get some pizza at Gambinos and then later in the day had my first Reflection Group of the year. Today the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council here at the seminary stopped me and told me about a program called the "Rosary Crusade." This Crusade is where one makes a pledge to say the Rosary every day until November 7th with the attention of stem cell researth being the prayer request. On the 7th the state of Missouri will elect to ban cloning or not. You probably think this sounds good, but in truth this is a bad thing. To the state cloning is letting the child stay alive. The will clone, but kill the child after birth and then use the child for stem cell research. Right now this issue only effects Missouri, but if it passes this could become a plague for the rest of the nation. We must come together in prayer and pray against this horrible act of killing. To get information of the Rosary Crusade click here.
September 13, 2006 (Wednesday)
It was another long day here at the seminary. It was good when apostolic time rolled around and I got the chance to get out of here. First we stopped at Chipotle for Supper and then made a stap by Best Buy. After this it was off to Saint James where I got to teach my first class of the school year. I only three of the five kids show up to class and wow were the hyper. We just spent the time getting to know one another and also spent time asking and answering questions about the faith, so I can get a good idea of where everyone stand in their knowledge.
September 14, 2006 (Thursday)
Another fun day here at the seminary which gets me one day closer to the first off campus weekend of the year. For this off campus I will be staying here, so things will probably get very boring not getting to see anyone for most of the day. We held the second Community Council Meeting of the year and voted on budgets for the different Committes here at the school. The word is offical I will be getting a few extra days added on to my Thanksgiving Break thanks to the Ordination. The only problem now is finding tickets which will actually work time wise.
September 15, 2006 (Friday)
This first off campus weekend of the year is finally here. I am going to stay here at the seminary for the weekend. There is a very small crowd of people staying for it and the only other Junior that is here is Anton. Anton and myself went into Maryville to get some Chinese and to make a Wal-Mart stop. Anton got the release of the original Star Wars DVDs and we plan to watch them all tommorrow night. Once we got back to the seminary we watched Star Wars Episodes 1-3 which kept us up till around 3am.
September 16, 2006 (Saturday)
I really wish they would do something about ringing the bells. They are very loud and do a great job of waking me up. I ended up getting out of bed at around 12:30pm and ended up spending the day doing nothing. At 5:30pm I left with Anton to go to Mass in Conception Junction. To my suprise the Mass only lasted 45minutes which is amazing because back home Mass usually goes a little over a hour. After leaving the church we went in Stanberry to pick up a pizza from Caseys and then it was back to CSC to eat the pizza and watch Star Wars 4-6. Father McManus joined us for Star Wars 4. We got finished around 3am just like last yesterday's movie night.
September 17, 2006 (Sunday)
It was great to have another day to sleep in extra late seeing how I did not have to attend Mass due to going last night. Once I got up I watched football and also worked on reading some philosophy. Right now we are reading the works of Paschal in Modern Philosophy and this book has not been to bad. It is now close to 8pm, so I only have two more hours until this place will be filled back up with everyone and that great peace and quit will be gone. Also, all really looks bad for the Titans this season seeing how they lost to the Chargers 40-7.
September 18, 2006 (Monday)
It was back to school today and we got back our Latin tests from Friday and I got a 93. Our supper for the day was a buffet thanks to people being gone for the golf tournament in Kansas City. Tonight I must write a Modern Philosophy paper and also study for a Latin quiz.
September 19, 2006 (Tuesday)
I started the day off the right way with attending Mass. After Mass I went back to my room to study for the Latin Quiz which ended up not happening. We will take it in class tommorrow, so at least I will not have to study for it tonight. After Latin I went to Gambinos with Sam and Lorenzo and once I got back I had to attend my first spiritual direction of the year. Our next meeting will be in two weeks and we will focus it upon picking my spiritual goals for this school year. I picked up a new book today in the bookstore titled "United States Catechism for Adults." I must say this book is a must have for your bookshelf. It takes the call of Pope John Paul the Great to take the catechism and make it usuable by the people of your country. The USCCB did this and in this book they teach the Catholic faith and also relate the faith to life here in the United States. Each chapter opens up with a great introduction where they tell a story of a saint which relates to the chapter's topic. This would make an ideal book for any RCIA or High School group.
September 20, 2006 (Wednesday)
It was a busy day here at school. We took that Latin quiz today and I think I missed two of the words which is okay because I will still get a low A on the quiz. After Speech I had some time to do some reading and then it was off with Sam to aposolics. We first stopped at Chipotle and then went to Saint James. This week my class discussed Adam and Eve and the fall of mankind into sin. We got into some good discussion which included if animals go to heaven or not.
September 21, 2006 (Thursday)
We were told no Latin quiz tommorrow, so that means I have made it to five weeks with holding an A in the class. Liturgy Practicum was actually good today because it was given by Father McManus and was on the upcoming Mass fixes. After practicum we had Mass and todays feastday is Saint Matthew. Tommorrow will be the start of Alumni weekend so things are going to be getting busy. I will be a waiter for the meal, so I should be very tired once the day is over.
September 22, 2006 (Friday)
Finally after a full day of classes the weekend is here and I can get some time to rest. Before the rest could come I did have to attend the Alumni Banquet where I got to waiter. It was not that bad serving the former students of this school. The menu of the night was steak and fish, but by the time the waiters got to eat only steak remained so I decided to not eat anything instead of eating meat on a Friday.
September 23, 2006 (Saturday)
Got up this morning at 7:10am so I could attend the 7:30am Mass in the Student Chapel with Father McManus. Today is the feast day of the great saint Padre Pio and Father McManus gave a great homily about his life. After Mass I went back to bed and woke up pretty late in the day. I went out with a few of the guys to La Bonita in Maryville. We met up with former CSC student Bryan Amthor and it was great to see him again. Once I got back to Conception I attended a movie night that we had in the gym. The movie that was shown was "Arachnophobia" due to all the spider scare going on in the dorms. After spending a day avoiding homework tommorrow will finally be the time to get to work.
September 24, 2006 (Sunday)
To my suprise we had the sit down lunch. I figured we would not have it due to so many students being gone to Divine Word for the soccer/volleyball games. I must note that CSC beat Divine Word in both sports this year. After lunch I watched some NFL action while I did my Latin homework. The Titans have lost to the Dolphins, so it looks like out only hope win wise will be against the Texans this year. After the game I read "The Temple of the Holy Ghost" for my Flannery O'Connor class and then had to spend the rest of the day working on my Ancient Philosophy paper. I think this paper is worse then the one I wrote on the pre-Socratics, but only time will tell if that is true or not. The only thing I have left for tonight is to learn my Latin words for the quiz tommorrow.
September 25, 2006 (Monday)
All is going crazy here when it comes to the internet. First all the messengers where not working, so I got Tony to allow them to work. Now everything that has to do with Yahoo is having a hard time working. This is bad because this site is hosted by geocities which is ran by Yahoo. I took me forever to get logged on to here, so hopefully I will get this fixed tommorrow. Day wise this day really feels like a Friday. I have so much work to do espically when it comes to Latin I just need a break. In two weeks our second Day of Recollection of the year will be here, so I will use that day to just rest and not worry about the school day. At least tommorrow I get to leave campus to get some pizza.
September 26, 2006 (Tuesday)
Father McManus started my day off with the celebration of Mass. After Mass I had my third chaplains meeting of the year which went well. After the meeting it was more Father McManus time because of Latin class. After class it was a well needed break from Conception in order to get some pizza. Next on my list was to finish up a Modern Philosophy paper and then get to class for 1:45. After class it was time for the second of four alcohol seminars of the year. Following supper I got some time to work on homework and also made a late night Perkins run to meet up with Amthor.
September 27, 2006 (Wednesday)
Ancient Philosophy is now getting into the works of Aristotle and everything is just as hard as I remeber it being last time we looked at his works. In Latin I took a quiz on Unit 6 and am pretty sure that is was an A. At 4:45 I left Conception to head off to apostolics with Sam. We stopped at Chipotle and at Best Buy before arriving at Saint James for CCD. This week my class talked about Caine and Abel and the first murder. We also go into Noah's ark and the Tower of Babel. I got back in from apostolics at 9:30 and now it is time to work on my never ending Latin work.
September 28, 2006 (Thursday)
All the grades that I got back today were very good. First off I got another A on my Latin. Secondly I got my Ancient Philosophy back and pulled off a B. I did not have to attend Modern Philosophy today because of Dr. Anadale being out sick, so I finally got some down time around here. I must say that Liturgy Practicum today had to be the best ever. It was given for the third straight week by Father McManus and this week he spoke about exorcism. At 8pm we had Saint Michael Hall Open House so I got some free food. Tonight I have some Latin to work on, but on the good side of things at least I don't have to learn new vocabulary.
September 29, 2006 (Friday)
The weekend is here and it is very amazing because I have no homework to do this weekend. I guess the main reason for not having any is because of the Family Weekend which officaly starts tommorrow. Tommorrow we will have a banquet for all the families and I will yet again get to be a waitor. After Evening Prayer I left this place with Anton to eat at A&Gs. The service was bad as usual, but the food made up for it like always.
September 30, 2006 (Saturday)
With no homework to worry about this week I ended up just taking the day easy and catching up on sleep. The first thing I had to do today was go to Evening Prayer with the monks. The Bacilica was filled with families, so things were very stuffy. After prayer was over I had to hand out all nametags to my classmates and then be off to waitor the meal. Our Head Waitor Doug had things go very smoothly so we got done in no time. After the meal a night of movies, games, and just hanging out was held in Saint Maur Hall.
