October 1, 2006 (Monday)
The new month is finally here! The Bacilica was packed again today for Mass because of the family weekend. Anton's family had to leave after Mass, so I ended up going out to eat Mexican with him. The Titans finally got smart and decided to start Vince Young as QB, but we yet again lost this time to the Cowboys. At 4pm I had to meet with Brother Cyprian to get a little practice in before starting as Morning Prayer Reader tommorrow at prayer. I finally got to talk to Tom and Karen today, and it looks like I will spend the next Off Campus weekend at their house. I just wish these three weeks would hurry up, so I can get this break from CSC.
October 2, 2006 (Monday)
The new week is here and things do not look to bad work wise. Next week will be the time for the hard work due to midterms coming up. For the fall things here have gotten very hot. I am ready for it to cool back off because I find it hard to sleep in such warm weather. I read this morning for Morning Prayer and to my suprise Father Xavior told me I did a good job. Welp only 4 more days to go this week and I will get more time off from the busy schedule.
October 3, 2006 (Tuesday)
I AM SO TIRED and I am pretty sure the rest of the school is to. We just have way to much to do here and even Father McManus can tell because he gave us the Latin homework of getting some sleep. This is finally a assignment that I can handle. I did not get to go to Gambinos today, but instead made a McDonalds run later in the day. Father Benedict gave us our first Formation Conference of the year and did a great job as usual. Well I guess I better be off to do my Latin homework.
October 4, 2006 (Wednesday)
It is finally starting to cool off again. Latin went well today and we ended up doing a pre-test over all the nouns that we have learned so far. The total ended up being 85 words and I ended up getting them all right, but one. Did the usual Chipotle Best Buy run before going to my apostolics. While in the parking lot of Saint James I broke my belt while tighting in up which ended up having me go to Target in order to get a new belt after my classes were over. Class this week went well and the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. We covered Abraham, Sarah, and Issac.
October 5, 2006 (Thursday)
Only one more day is keeping me from the weekend. Right now I am so tired, but I still have so much work to do. In Latin today we took another pre-test over the 75 verbs which we should know. I for one do not know them well at all, and I know for sure that the pre-test I took will reflect that. I will have to spend this weekend looking over the verbs in order to get a passing grade on Monday's major test. I was to have Spiritual Direction today, but Father made a scheduling error so I will have it tomorrow before Evening Prayer instead.
October 6, 2006 (Friday)
The weekend is finally here and I am lucky because my Operation Stewardship aka Chain Gang job has not started yet. Dave did get the info of what work we will spend the week doing. It looks like we will be slaving away at mowing the grass, cutting down weeds, and taking care of trees. This seems so fair to me seeing how every other group, but ours is working inside. If it is freezing outside that will not matter outside we will remain. Its great to know that the school has placed more things in the way of my studies. After Evening Prayer our class did a class outing to Saint Joseph to eat some cajun food together. After the food everyone had to rush back to CSC because of a poker tournament going on at the seminary. I did not play, but did stick around awhile talking to Novice Nicholas.
October 7, 2006 (Saturday)
It was great being able to wake up late in the day refreshed. After getting up I had the whole day to do nothing which was great. At 8pm I started to write my Ancient Philosophy paper on Aristotle and it is just about done once I do a few touch ups to it tomorrow. I will also spend a little bit of time looking over my vocabulary for Monday's Latin test before I end up going to sleep.
October 8, 2006 (Sunday)
After Supper I had a Knights of Columbus 1st Degree/Meeting to attend. After the meeting I headed up to the TV lounge to catch some football action. Yet again the Tennessee Titans have lost, but at least it was a close one with the undefeated Colts. The final score of the game was 14-13. I have offically turned my Ancient Philosophy paper in, so the only thing I must do today is study for the big Latin exam. After this test is out of the way the only thing I will have left is Modern Philosophy and then my Mid-Term will be over.
October 9, 2006 (Monday)
I think I did a good job on the Latin test. It took me a whole class period of non-stop writting to finish it. Now that this is done all I have left to do this week is write my Modern Philosophy paper on Descartes vs Pascal. The Diocese of Knoxville had a priest in today, so we got to skip supper and go out to A&Gs for some good food. After eating Father Alex brought us back to Conception and it was then time to start our Day of Recollection. The speaker for this retreat is Father Reni who is a Spiritual Director here from the Diocese of Chicago. It is good to finally get sometime off from the week schedule. With this busy weekend coming up I am going to need it.
October 10, 2006 (Tuesday)
Our Day of Recollection continued today, so I had no classes. It was good to get some extra sleep and also to have the conferences given by Father Reni. These days really help to get your Spiritual Life back under control. Tomorrow it will be back to classes, but at lest I will get an extra day off of Latin because of Father McManus being gone still. Tomorrow I must focus my attention to working on my Modern Philosophy.
October 11, 2006 (Wednesday)
Thanks to Father McManus being gone we had no Latin today. It would great to have one more week day free from this class which we have all the time without any stops. I had my third Chaplains Meeting of the year and it went well. After the meeting I left for apostolics with Sam. We drove around Saint Joseph looking for a Catholic store called Blessings, but never found it. Once giving up we made our usual stop at Chipotle. This time all went great because the girl rang us up for $2.41 each. She said we come in so much it is about time that we have a break. After the Chipotle greatness we stopped at Best Buy and I ended up picking up the new Black Label Society CD which was released last month. This week in CCD we discussed Joseph and his coat of many colors. Once getting back to the seminary it was time to sit down and devote all my time to Modern Philosophy. Right now I have three out of four pages done, and I am calling it quits for the night. Tomorrow I will for sure have enough time to finish the paper up before class. O yes I cannot forget I got my Ancient Philosophy paper on Aristotle back today and ended up getting a B+.
October 12, 2006 (Thursday)
Thursday was like most days here. Not really anything going on, but tomorrow the bishop will be here.
October 13, 2006 (Friday)
Today was my 21st birthday and today is also the start of the Board of Regents meetings. My day was filled with a lot of stuff from classes all day, setting up for the banquet, more class, Operation Chain Gang, Mass, and then supper with Bishop Kurtz of Knoxville. After supper I went out with Cory, Ben, and Ian for a short Appelbees run and then it was back to CSC.
October 14, 2006 (Saturday)
Went to the Mass with the monks today because my bishop was the clebrant. As soon as Mass was over Bishop Kurtz had to leave so I did not get the chance to tell him bye before he left. The next thing to do was the Freshmen Talent Night which was very short this year. I must say my class' talent night was way better. After helping with taking everything down I went to Saint Joseph with Anton and Andy. We stopped at Applebees and had drinks and apatizers. After Applebees we made a Wal-Mart stop and then returned to CSC.
October 15, 2006 (Sunday)
The bacilica was filled because of a donor banquet going on after Mass. A few students had to help wait it while thise in the Knights of Columbus put together the Soccer Challenge. This is the first time this event has been ran in this state and despite the rain the turnout was OK. After the challenge was over it was back to my room to find out that the Titans have finally won a game. This last week also brings us to the half way point of the semester and I did not get anything that was a C- or lower. Tonight I have a bit of Latin to work on along with doing my What I learned in Class report for Father Isaac.
October 16, 2006 (Monday)
The second half of the semester is offically under way. This week also brings me so much closer to the off campus weekend which will take place this weekend. I will be heading to Nebraska for it in order to spend time with Tom and Karen.
October 17, 2006 (Tuesday)
Today was a good day for many reasons. First off we got our Latin Tests back and I made an A on it. Secondly I made my return to Gambinos after being under a two week absencse. Third we had our Formation Conference with Docter McGrath where we got the traditional bookmarks to pump us up for the remander of the semester. Fourth I am not failing any of my courses!
October 18, 2006 (Wednesday)
Mass today was celebrated by Father Xavior. Today was Saint Luke's feastday so the Mass was made a bit nicer then the usual weekday Mass. This time the even threw in Latin Mass parts which is a first for me since being here at Conception. I still dont beleive that they used them. At 4:45 I left to head to apostolics with the usual Chipotle/Best Buy stop on the way. This week my class watched the new vocations video put out by the USCCB called "The Fishers of Men." It is a 15 minute video and was done very well, so if you don't own a copy you need to get one. After the video we discussed when Joseph's brothers came to Egypt and how the family was reunited.
Ocotber 19, 2006 (Thursday)
We received great Latin homework again today. The homework was to get some rest which is actually something I have been unable to do today. We held our second meeting of the Community Council today and we dicussed have an assigned day to wear the polo shirt which was shot down by the council. I think the school polo shirt is something that should be made the every day dress code. After the meeting we had another great Liturgy Praticum given by Father McManus. The Junior class is finally starting to get the ball rolling when it comes to the Halloween party. Abram talked at news and views about wearing a costume and also the pumpkin carving contest. After the meeting I had to attend a Knights of Columbus audit meeting which lasted two and a half hours, so of course I did not get the chance to do any homework tonight. I still have an ancient philosophy paper to write and I hope to do it tomorrow before I leave to go to Tom and Karen's house for the weekend.
Ocotber 20, 2006 (Friday)
After classes were all over I got a chance for a nice long nap until Tom picked me up. We left Conception around 5pm and then headed to his house in Fremont, Nebraska. It was great to get away from Conception for the first time since coming here at the start of the year. It was good to be able to see Tom and Karen again along with also meeting some of Karen's family who were also in for the weekend.
October 21, 2006 (Saturday)
Tom and Karen had to head into Omaha because of a conference with deacon canidates. I instead went to morning Mass at Saint Patricks and then got a parishoner to take me to the Blue Bottle for Father Korty's Holding Court. I got to serve the Mass and is was great to be able to wear my cassock again. After Holding Court I was brought back to the house and later walked into town to look around a few stores. I picked up a Missal from 1887 at one of the shops for only $16. The book is in very good condition.
October 22, 2006 (Sunday)
The first thing of the day was 11am Mass at Saint Patrick's church. After Mass we went out to eat some Mexican and then retuned to the Silva's home for some time to say good bye. I left shortly after their other visiters. Tom took me back to CSC and now I have only four weeks until I will be away again, but this time to the great state of Tennessee. Right now I am putting some finishing touches on my Ancient Philosophy paper and hope to have it sent to Father Isaac very soon.
October 23, 2006 (Monday)
It was back to school here at Conception after such a great weekend away from here. We had to go to the library to take a Latin Quiz today and I did well on it. The next time we will have Latin class will be Friday when we take another quiz in the library. This week was the start of my second time up as a waiter and once all that was done I ended up taking off to go and see the Bomb at Perkins.
October 24, 2006 (Tuesday)
Sam's birthday was yesterday, so we ended up going to Gambinos in order to celebrate. On the way there we had to make a pit stop at the local Casey's so Sam could purchase his first beer. After getting back I had to put the finishing touches on my Modern Philosophy Reaction paper. Once Modern was over I had to attend the third or four Alcohol Seminars.
October 25, 2006 (Wednesday)
Before taking off to Saint Joseph I had to have my Chaplain's meeting. This meeting went well and to my suprise Father Dan said it would be OK if I kneel. After the meeting was over I took off with Sam and we made the usual Chipotle stop. After Chipotle we had to pick up a new mixer for Anton and the electrical committee. This week I had perfect attendence in my class and we also picked up a new child. The lesson for the day was Moses growing up and also when he seen the burning bush. Upon returning to school we got a good rain which put out the power at Conception. The only thing about the power outage is that it only got parts of the school. I was lucky enough to be able to keep my power, but the power does flicker off here and there. Time like this make me so happy for having bought battery back up for my computer at the start of this school year.
October 26, 2006 (Thursday)
With no first period class and no Latin this week I got to have a very long nap following Morning Prayer. When I go up it was time for Spiritual Direction and then once that was over it was off to Modern Philosophy where yet again my paper was not returned to me. Class let out thirty minutes early which was great because it gave me more time in my already very limited day. At 8pm we had our brass concert and it lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. After the concert I ended up catching up on all the homework for my classes.
October 27, 2006 (Friday)
Had to go to the library today to take a short Latin quiz and then it was off to Mass. I went off to Applebees with Cory and Ian and then returned here for free beer and in the Union and the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. The winner of the tournament was Antonio and he will get to play Father Samuel this week at News and Views. Once getting back from the Union I was pulled into Cory's room to find the Bomb. We ended up going on a McDonalds run together and then he left once we got back. I made it back onto the weekly schedule this time as a reader for Mass.
October 28, 2006 (Saturday)
Today I had to set up for lunch, so I did not get to attend Mass. After luch was put back up I ended up going to pick up the pumpkins with Adam. The place we picked up the 23 pumpkins was a corn maze, so I ended up going through it with Adam. Once we got back Adam and I deleiverd all the pumpkins. The rest of my day was filled with doing nothing. Do not forget to set your clock back one hour tonight so you can take advantage of the extra hour of sleep.
October 29, 2006 (Sunday)
I was the reader for Mass today and also had to set everything up for lunch because of being a waitor. We did not have the usual sit down meal thanks to the seniors and pre-theo IIs being gone for Inner City Weekend. After everything was cleaned up I went to the tv lounge to watch the Chiefs game. This week the Titans won again by beating the Texans, this makes two straight wins. After football was over I left with a few people so we could pick up decorations for the Halloween party. Wal-Mart in Maryville had a very bad selection of Halloween items, but we did end up with a few things. After the shopping was over we ate supper at Applebees and then it was back to the seminary.
October 30, 2006 (Monday)
Today the Junior class continued to work in Junior fashion. The fashion of being last minute with everything that we do. It was today that we finally got some advertisments out which advertised Dinner and Death. We ended up splattering red paint all over the posters so they would look like they have blood on them. Later in the night I made a Perkins run and got back to the seminary around 1am. Once getting back I helped Abram and Greg until 4am working on things needed to be done for the party.
October 31, 2006 (Tuesday)
Halloween is here and with it came the Junior Halloween party. We spent the whole day getting everything together for it. We ended up getting a coffin which we used to serve sodas out of, our beer selection was the top of the line, and everything came off well once the party was over. Abram and Greg were the stars of the night by inviting everyone to the party, then we ate until Father Dan was killed, but then we were left with the problem of solving who the killer was. It was here that each table had to work together solving clues which led them to the identity of the killer. The killer ended up being Father Samuel who made sure to kill Greg with a gun hidden under his habit. Once the game was all over we ended up having a party with good music and more food. Once everything was cleaned up a few of us made another Perkins run where we met up with the Bomb at Perkins.
