Sweet Girl

Sweet Girl began to cry
her daddy said that he loved him better
They asked her what was wrong
eager for a plot twist that took much too long
She sobbed and they turned away
They didnt need a melodrama in a science class
After in the school hallway
she tried to find the entrance to their hearts
when she couldnt find her own

And they laughed
*
and she cried
*
and wished
*
they had died
*
Swallowing
*
That pride
*
She felt her way back inside

And she ran to the hallway doors, and then fell
they were closed and locked up tight
Her means of escape were only there
before she knew there was a fight
A soft fat hand rubbed on the door
leaving a mark on the once-clean glass
Sweet Girl looked up with numb, dumb eyes
to see theirs peering out of class

And she laughed
*
cause they cried
*
And they fell
*
As she looked
*
In their eyes

(The windows of their soul but she could see none)
as they impatiently waited for her helping hand
But when they saw the grin on her face
they ceased their fruitless demands
And watched silent as she glided to her feet
the doors finally opened for her
And Sweet Girl walked away
