hello everybody,
is that time of the year again and this is the 8th year. (gerry's favourite no!) time flies but this time i
will NOT go on and on about my walks in the park since i have had enough of walking in the nilai memorial
park. (pun intended) yes someone told me to be careful what i wish for...
anyway this year's mini o is going to be slightly different. before i go into
that - please welcome
these four captains who have graciously accepted the thankless task: thank you, thank you beribu

and also thanks to jasmin who agreed to plan the opening and closing parties -
please remember the dates - 15 july 2006 and 9 september 2006 (09:09:06:). both a saturday to cater to
the outstation crowd and a whole saturday to get ready and a whole sunday to recover. venues to be
announced later.
mini o first started because a group of us just wanted to play team games. this
was difficult then especially when you are working and with colleagues who are either boys or women who are
not sporty or married or too busy with boys. anyway that was how we started.
over the years we have played hard, fought hard, some had scars, some lost weight, we have insisted on playing
in the same team with friends or refused to be in the same with exes, we have gone back to 'sissy' games so
that we don't 'fight'...
the mini o games are basically about teamwork, about making friends, about
playing your best in each game regardless of how good or not so good you are, about playing each game
knowing all the rules of the game and playing by the rules, about having fun, about respect for each other
etc etc.
so this year we are going back to just 11 games and the games are netball, basketball, volleyball, futsal
etc. yes games where you can still have battle scars but i would like to think we have improved,
progressed, evolved, advanced, enriched.. you get the drift.
all the members will be reshuffled. the captains will draw lots to determine which team you will be in
and no one should change team once that is decided. so we make new friends and learn all over again to
play as a team with different team mates. i know this will be most difficult for the captains but am
sure the whole lot of you out there will be nice to them and not give them a hard time.
we should have different team names. please write in your suggestions (like now!) and we vote in the
dboleh yahoogroups. ( ju - please help!!) btw that was how the name dboleh came about. i remembered
someone suggested 'dykes'r'us'. closing deadline for this is june 23?
as an incentive, a free bottle of wine to the person who comes out with the suggestion that has the
highest votes. bottle will be given at the opening party.

before i get too long winded, please please give suggestions for names and more on this mini
