title>Repacking the Raft After Our 360 in the River

This picture was taken after we endo'ed our raft. IOW we did a back-over-front 360 degree flip. The only thing left in the raft was the cooler(it was strapped in). It was almost 100 that day so a dip in the water didn't sound like too bad of an idea, except that this water came from the icepack on Mt. Hood and the rapids don't get much of a chance to warm up. Needless to say, it was a very short swim...
I thought for sure that we would never be able to retrieve all our stuff, but the river, as mean as it can be, was at least reasonable. About 50 yards past the rapids, was an eddy pool(An eddy pool is a sheltered part of the river guarded by rocks protruding above the surface. Because the water is forced to go around the rocks, it creates a mini-whirlpool behind the rocks. This whirlpool action traps floating objects in a perpetual spin.) Everything except one pair of sunglasses was caught in the eddy pool. That day, we all became experts at fishing items out of the pool!
