The one thing that a native of Maupin doesn't have to worry about too much is watering the grass. Although there are cultivated fields all over (some on the sides of hills so steep I couldn't stand on!) our campsite was nothing but rocks. The most amazing things I saw there was trees growing right next to the riverbank in nothing but rocks and sand. Proof positive that man-kind did not invent hydroponics!
