After I determined what I wanted to use on this picture, I used the selection tool to cut it out, and then pasted it to a new blank canvas. I used the eraser to remove the background. This creates an invisible effect when layered onto a another picture. When layering the picture, I have the option of setting the opacity of the picture. With the level set at 50%, the picture seems to be emerging from the background giving the image a "ghostly" effect. For this project the opacity was set at 60-80% depending the contrast and light levels of the original picture.
