Samuel came to the Township of Ancaster, Wentworth, Ontario
in 1799/1800. He moved from there in 1807 with his parents to Toronto Township,
Peel, Ontario there he was a farmer.
In 1825 Samuel received part of Lot 35 Concession 3 Toronto Township,
Peel, Ontario and also the broken Lot 35 Concession 4. In 1827 he served
as a grandjuryman in Toronto Township. By 1844 Samuel had moved to Townsend
Township, Norfolk County on lot 15 Concession 8, consisting of 195 acres
45 of which was cultivated. He remained for the rest of his life.
LAND PETITION OF SAMUEL GABLE
...The
Petition of Samuel Gable of Toronto in the Home District farmer humbly
sheweth.
That
your Excellency's petitioner is the son of Henry Gable of the Township
aforesaid an old soldier in his Majesty's service during the American rebellion
and many years a settler in the Province.
That
your petitioner is employed in the occupation of a farmer in the aforesaid
Township that he has attained the twenty third year of his age and that
he has never received any land or grant of land under the Crown.
And
humbly prays your Excellency in Council will be pleased to grant him such
a number of acres of the wastelands of the Crown in this province as your
Excellency may deem meet.
Any
your petitioner as in duty bound will every pray.
