Winter Outing for the Danish Boomerang Throwers

All these pictures were taken on the 23rd of January 1999

This was the first time the four of us met at one place: Ulf, Harald, Glenn and Me. I had brought my son Noam as well. The weather was not too bad - about two degrees above freezing, between 5 and 8 m/s wind and a slowly setting sun on a hazy grey sky.

Ulf had a good day and was catching most of what he threw, despite the less than ideal conditions. Ulf definitely prefers calm whether. This was far from it, although the winds were mostly steady.
Glenn had a relative successful day, catching more than he hoped for. Most of the time he was throwing the Colorado Tri-Blader and Yanaki, and they just kept on coming back to him (I'm sure he's not the only one having this experience with Colorado boomerangs :-) Glenn catching the Tri-Blader

Harald doing the finger trick
Harald making a beautiful catch right on the finger.
Harald had mended his four bladed boomerang, which had had all but one wing broken, and still performed like a bomerang! The repair seemed to be holding and after a while Harald was hitting the spot more often than not. He got so confident that he started to catch the four-blader in it's big hole in the middle.
I was having more fun taking pictures of everybody but myself. But I managed to persuade Glenn to act as a photographer. Unfortunately, by the time I let go of the camera, my fingers and my arm were freezing. This is just a poor excuse for not catching much worth taking pictures of. The hug catch.
Me hugging my favorite boomerang. This little (25cm) yellow and black plywood thing so easy to throw and catch was made by Ulf.

My son Noam wouldn't miss a chance to play with the big guys. He just loves throwing boomerangs, but have a hard time understanding why he has to keep to the smaller items in my bag. This was the first time he actually accomplished to get the boomerang to return. It landed a bit to the left, and was hard to catch, but he's only 4.
Ulf wasn't content with just catching his own boomerangs. Whenever one of ours came near him, he would reach out and catch it one-handed. Glenn kept insisting that he would have caught it, if it wasn't for Ulf getting in his way. Ulf catching Glenn's

I had also brought my trailblazer with me, and Glenn having heard about this upper lip killer boom, had to try it. After a lot of running he finally figured it out. Right after release he ran 10 meters to the right where it would come in for a mostly soft landing. But neither he, nor Ulf acting as a backup managed to catch it and it ended up on the grass.
Ulf likes to practise his one-handed catch, but this day was not ideal for those kind of antics. Even his chest had to take it's share. Ulf managing a one-handed catchUlf using his chest

Glenn had a field day. Here he's just missing the Tri-Blader. With this kind of acrobatics, I'm sure Glenn could perform in a circus, if he wanted to :-)
Ulf wasn't all together happy with the winds. Running isn't one of his favorite pastimes. Ulf in a rare situation
This is indeed a rare picture.
