Ingrid Lorentzen was born in Trondheim in 1972. She started ballet lessons at age 4. She trained professionally at Statens Balletth�gskole in Norway and Svenska Balettskolan in Sweden. After graduating from Svenska Balettskolan, she trained with various teachers in New York and Paris. After working as a freelance dancer for a few years, she joined the corps de ballet of the Norwegian National Ballet. She became a soloist in 2001 (the NNB doesn't have the title Principal Dancer, but Ingrid is the prima ballerina of the company). Ingrid is well-known in Norway for her contemporary performances. Her classical repertoire with the NNB includes solos in Symphony In C, the Nutcracker, Myrtha in Giselle and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. One of Ingrid most memorable performances was her solo in Standard Arabesque by Norwegian choreographer Ingun Bj�rnsg�rd.
