Comments:
The Worms played the perfect game in "Mercy Ruling" Triangle Plastering. The game had special meaning because of the Worms dismal 1-5 record against Triangle Plastering over the last 3 years, including a 32-12 washing in 1999. The Worms' history against Triangle has always included being shorthanded or missing top players, and this game was no different, as the team played without leftfielder Ken Washington. However, several players chipped in to pick up the slack. Bobby Cecil was 4-4 with a homer and 5 RBI. Terry Fabian was 3-4 with 2 homers and 4 RBI. Jimmie Giffen was 3-3 with a homer and 3 RBI. Bubba Tipton, David Rohr, Greg Goebel, and Larry Wortham added 2 hits apiece. In the field, the Worms were flawless. The defense didn't commit an error and yielded only 5 first inning runs.
