Many people have a delusion that life presents them with a right choice and a wrong one, and that they should be able to tell which is which in advance. More often, in this ambiguous world, we have to choose something and, by our commitment to it, make it the right choice. Either option can be correct if we're willing to make it so. What causes the problem is never making a decision or jumping from one choice to another without a clear focus on our action. [p.~33]

Do you agree that `If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself'? Think about the contempt for other people and the loneliness implied in that statement. [p.~82]

Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make angry---then watch as they destroy themselves. [p.~102]

No business can afford the regular loss of good people. [p.135]

Gravity is an unfair limitation on our freedom. After all, we had no say in the matter at all; we didn't ask to be this heavy. Gravity isn't just a personal problem; it's an economic problem as well. Just think of all the dollars wasted every year on fighting gravity. In the airline industry alone, changes in the law of gravity could save billions a year. Of course, if we eliminated gravity, it would cut way back on our enjoyment of the out-of-doors, but we could do a lot with those dollars. Stupid? Of course. Gravity is a natural law, and we can't repeal it. Yet in my practice every day, I hear people making themselves miserable with futile struggles against the natural laws of business and human behavior. [p.225]
