It all started long ago, sometime in January when my mom and dad decided to have a kid...  I'll spare you the details.  Ok, so me.  Um, I'm not really sure what I can add about me that the other pages don't explain.  I'm Megs, your typical girl that spends too much time on-line.  
    When I'm not on-line I do normal things like every other human on earth.  I read and write a lot.  I find time to make art from time to time.  I volunteer at the Des Moines Young Woman Resource Center .  It's really cool.  Once a week I get to hang out with middle school girls and help them learn about things like body image, self-defense and breast cancer.  Well, ok, so I'm a little shy still and I haven't had a chance to get up and teach them anything.  But I do talk to them and when the day is over I find myself really happy to have done it.  In my opinion, everyone should volunteer some of their time to helping their community.  (You'll find links about it elsewhere on my page soon.)

    When I'm on-line I spend my time... Reading and writing a lot.  I'm not too embarrassed to admit to being sort of nerdy so...  I play an RPG on AOL called Black Bayou.  It makes me happy.  Other times you'll find me working on some webpage or just talking to people.

    Hm, this is harder than I thought it would be...  

    Ok, I like costuming and historical recreation.  (See?  I told you I was sort of nerdy!)  I've dabbled in theatrical costuming, but I find that I simply like the straight out historical stuff better.  I can pay more attention to details.  Being a rather non-active member of the SCA , I focus on the Italian Renaissance and Tudor periods.  But I'm proud to say that I've got quite a bit of knowledge on other medieval time periods spanning the areas of France, Italy, England, Germany and Flanders (Yes, Flanders).  Maybe someday when I finally finish a gown to my standards I'll start some sort of costuming page...  Or maybe just a page on my SCA stuff since I do more than costume.  My dream is to finally get more active in the SCA and get my laurel in Italian Renaissance Women's Garb.  Aw yeah, that'll get me the guys...

    When I finally decide to grow up, I'm planning on going into the counseling aspect of social work or perhaps art therapy.  My main goal is to help people who self-injure and suffer from eating disorders.  However, I'd also like to travel the country teaching self-defense, join the Peace Corps, write the great American novel, travel the world and sing while playing guitar or drums in an all girl band so we'll see what I finally end up doing.  I've got too many dreams and goals, you can see, but maybe I'll get around to doing it all.  I'm still young.
